The third time was a charm for me!  This has been a magical year full of blessings.  The first thing I did after I won was “take a deep breath” and let it sink in!  My mom would look at me and randomly say, “You won NAM!”  And we would both laugh.  It was a big goal of mine that I was thankful to experience.  I wasn’t supposed to even be allowed to compete until I was 12 but my mom liked the “no makeup” rule and thought it gave me good experience interviewing, speaking on stage and acting like a lady even if I didn’t win.  And although I was pretty confident to start, each year I grew in NAM I became more confident.

I’ve been able to travel a ton!  We went to Chicago to the Illinois pageant and it was fun to be “Visiting Royalty.”  Then, we took off to Nashville, Tennessee to have my dress “blinged out” by the person who made it who was none other than “the” Jonathan Kayne!  And he let me play dress up in his studio & he let me interview him for my YouTube station.   I found out he almost became a Vet!  Can you imagine the feet of pageant girls all over the word if he had been a Vet?  He was awesome and I hope to have him dress me one day for the red carpet!  I even got a selfie with him, of course.

My service project is very special to me and was an easy experience because my mom & I have been serving Homeless Youth at Daybreak since I was born.  My mom stayed in that shelter as a Teen so it means a lot to me to help raise money & awareness for them.  And now I get to sell gourmet, all natural dog & cat treats for the organization at festivals all over.  The kids that stay at the shelter make the treats to learn job skills and all the proceeds go back into the shelter.  They will be sold at Home Goods stores all over the country  under the name Lindy and Company and you can buy them on line too (www.lindyandcompany.org).  My mom & I have been a part of raising over 1.2 Million dollars for this organization at the annual fundraising event we have directly participated since I was born.

Going to Nationals was a dream, come true!  I had a blast and made so many new friends.  I am even going to a major acting summer camp with Miss Georgia Pre-Teen in New Orleans where we will be participating in a showcase at the Spanish Mansion where Reese Witherspoon  & Sofia Vergara just filmed their latest movie “Hot Pursuit.”  We will be seen by Agents, Managers and Casting Directors from Los Angeles.   Also, I just happened to run into Calum Worthy from Austin & Ally on the Disney Channel and got a selfie with him too while at Nationals!  What a memory.  It wasn’t my year to win but I am a NAM queen for the rest of my life.

I am an Actress signed with Heyman Talent and that’s what I want to do for my career.  Right before I left for Nationals I had a call back for my first feature film and as soon as I came home from Nationals I had a workshop with a Nickelodeon Casting Director.  Well, I’m happy to say I got the part as the Lead Character’s younger self in my first feature film called Respite Care!  And, NAM tweeted about it, so my mom let me get a Twitter account, Instagram & Facebook (Twitter: @jademanleyy, Instagram:@jademanleyy & @namohiopreteen.jade and Facebook: Jade Capri Manley-Entertainer).   You know what NAM did for Rayvon Owen on American Idol and he’s not even one of their Queens!  J  I have also auditioned for series regular roles on Nickelodeon and Disney channel!  And I was in the final running to be Marissa Tomei’s younger self in a Diane Keeton movie.  I also played the Godfather in “Twinderella” and was recently cast as BEAUTY in “Beauty and the Beast”  at Town Hall Theater in Centerville, Ohio playing the first weekend in August!

Parades, photoshoots, and sister queen experiences were the icing on the cake this year!

The year was full of blessings, my life has been granted with so many opportunities and the NAM organization is forever a part of what built me up along the way.  Guess what?  I won NAM in 2014 and it is forever in my heart!  And you haven’t seen the last of me yet!  I’m only 12….I’m just getting started.

Sincerely,

Jade Capri Manley

I am absolutely humbled and honored to have been chosen your National American Miss Ohio Preteen!  I know how truly blessed I am! Hearing my name called was such an amazing feeling ~ one that I am so happy to pass on to one of you very soon!

I have had an amazing year! Nationals in California is a week of memories and friendships I will truly treasure forever! At the National Pageant I was so proud to have been chosen 1st runner-up in "Spirit" and I was so honored when my name was called out as 2nd runner-up overall!!

I have enjoyed making appearances at other pageants ~ cheering on friends and always making new ones! It was especially nice when I was able to do so with my beautiful sister queens!

Going to Miss America in New Jersey was awesome! I was able to meet Miss America and many previous Miss Americas, Chris Harrison from 'The Bachelor', and we even ran into Mr. & Mrs. Mayes at the very rainy "Parade of Shoes"! The entire weekend was perfect!

I am very proud of this crown and sash and I hope I was able to be a positive influence on others while wearing it. I've enjoyed volunteering for 'The Salvation Army' during the Christmas Season, I participated in a huge 'Right to Life' march, I hosted my annual fundraiser in honor of a special friend during 'Breast Cancer Awareness' month, and I shared a wonderful day with special friends during our annual 'Relay for Life" event.  I've enjoyed my many hours with the children in grades kindergarten through second teaching them to "Be a Buddy, Not a Bully", I volunteer at my local animal shelter, and I've enjoyed bringing awareness to collecting 'Pop Tabs' for the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland.

I am especially proud to be the Ambassador for "Project Night Night" in my area, which I have been for four years now.  I deliver special tote bags stuffed with a stuffed animal, book, security blanket and other goodies to homeless children in local shelters at a time when they need it most.

It was awesome sharing this year with the most beautiful group of sister queens both inside and out.  I have loved every moment we have spent together from our parades, photo shoot, sleep overs and volunteering. Every moment spent together is always a blast!  Each of you are so very special, funny, beautiful, giving, and talented.  I admire all of you! I will never forget our year together!  May all of your dreams come true!

To Steve and Kathleen Mayes and your truly amazing staff ~ thank you from the bottom of my heart for providing all of us such a phenonminal system!  NAM was the very first pageant I have ever competed in.  It was your electric stage at the tender age of six that changed my life forever!  I am so grateful!  You have given me a wonderful gift!  I hope I made you proud!

Thank you also to my Mom, Dad, and brother Matthew for your never ending encouragement and support!  I love you more than words can say!

The greatest thank you to God!  Without you God, I know none of this would have been possible!

I would like to congratulate each and every one of you competing this weekend.  I wish you all the very best of luck! You are all winners regardless if you take home the crown or not!!

It has been a true honor representing this incredible system and being part of such a wonderful family!

Always & Forever ~

Your 2014
National American Miss Ohio Preteen

What a fun year for Miss Ohio Princess!

I’ve had an amazing year as your 2014 Miss Ohio Princess Queen.  It was my 3rd year participating in NAM, and I guess you could say 3rd time’s the charm! I was crowned on July 19th, one day before my birthday (I got my birthday wish!).  Since being crowned, I have been able to participate in so many different activities and make all kinds of new friends.

I attended Nationals in Anaheim, California, had a great week there with my family and new friends, and I even placed top 10 in the country!  Disneyland was so much fun and I got to meet many of my favorite Disney characters.  And while at Nationals I got to meet top 5 American Idol, Rayvon Owen!  He was the entertainer at Nationals and sang to the top 10 while on stage.  It is a week that I will always remember!

I’ve also been able to represent National American Miss by participating in many volunteer opportunities.  During Bike Night at 250 Speedway in Cadiz, Ohio I gave away donated bicycles to children in attendance with my sister queen Rylynn.  I helped collect donations at the Wishathon for Wishes Can Happen, an organization that grants wishes to terminally ill children.  I participated in the Walk For Babies, raising money for the Akron Children’s Hospital NICU.  I helped with registration and ran in the 5K Kenzie & Kids Family Fun Run, raising money for the YMCA and a local child. I spent a day reading to and painting nails with residents at a local nursing home.  And I helped set out American flags at the VFW for Memorial Day.

I have become really great friends with some of my sister queens.  All of my sister queens and I represented National American Miss at the Circleville Pumpkin Festival & Parade.  I had the opportunity to ride in the Navarre Holiday Parade with our mayor.  We also had a photo shoot and afterwards we had a sleepover and had a lot of fun.  I was also able to ride in the Navarre Memorial Day parade with my sister queens Zoey and Brooke, and the Brewster Fireman’s Festival Parade with Brooke.  I had a lot of fun helping out at many of the open calls and training sessions with some of my sister queens.

My sister queen Brooke and I have gotten very close.  I went to a University of Akron football game to watch her cheer; and she also came to a midget football game to watch me cheer.  I’ve had the chance to get close with Zoey as well by hanging out at open calls and training sessions and riding in parades together.  National American Miss has helped me make great, lifelong friends like my “twin” Madison who made second runner up in my Queen’s Court and we got to see each other a lot while in California at Nationals and have gotten together a few times within the past year.

Being a part of National American Miss has done so much for me.  It has taken me across the country to California, to Disneyland, “the world of imagination, hopes and dreams”.  It has helped me grow my confidence by leaps and bounds.  It has introduced some of the most amazing girls in the world to me.  And most of all, National American Miss has helped encourage me to chase my dreams and believe in myself; and I look forward to continuing on with NAM.  To my successor, cherish every moment because the year will pass quickly.   And to anybody else reading this, believe in yourself and follow your dreams!  As Walt Disney said, “Believe in your dreams, no matter how impossible they seem”.

Forever yours, your 2014 Miss Ohio Princess, Kaidyn Roberts.  And in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “I’LL BE BACK!”.

My year as the 2014 Miss Florida Pre-Teen has been such a blessing. Right after crowning moment I was honored to go out and put my title to work by making appearances in my community and volunteer with various organizations such as: Ronald Mc Donald, Heart 2 Heart Organization, Hunger relief Program and many more.
During my reign as Miss Florida Pre-Teen, numerous opportunities were presented to me. I was able to participate in Christmas Parades, and was able to donate over 300 gifts to underprivileged children. Having the opportunity to give back in my community and make a difference in the lives of others has been such a blessing. My journey with NAM started as a shine princess contestant and now I can say I’m a confident young lady with poise and people skills.
Nationals in California were more than I could ever wish for. I met so many amazing young ladies and made so many friends from all across the country. I want to thank the entire NAM family for developing an organization that transforms lives and inspires thousands of girls all over the Nation each year.

I’m honored and proud to say I’m your 2014 National American Miss Florida Pre-Teen Queen. Briana Florexil

It has been an incredible year for me my dream came true I was crowned miss Florida Jr. Preteen queen.  I will never forget that moment when they were about to call the queen they had one spot left and I was shaking, all of the sudden they say your new queen is Danielle Cohn.  My dream had finally came true, it was my 3rd year I went from 4th runner up to 2nd runner up to queen.  I never gave up I came back every year more prepared.  Being crowned Miss Florida was a dream come true.  I gain a crown and I became a titleholder for my State.  I have served my community and became a role model for other young girls.  Best part was using my title to help out the children miracle hospital by making teddy bears and bringing them gifts on the holidays.

Then it was time for nationals in Anaheim California were I had the time of my life.  I meet so many amazing queens from other states that I have gained amazing friendships with.  I was able to go to Disneyland and walk the streets of Hollywood it was an amazing trip.  I was able to enjoy my time with my family and also getting to know my sister queens.

The best part of being a queen was meeting my sister’s queens; we have all become so close.  We go to events together and I know I can always count on them when I need them.  Our bond and sisterhood has grown so much and we love each other so much.

My mom had always told me never to give up keep fighting for what you want.  I learned to become confident with NAM and I want all other girls to know that they should never give up on your dream keeping trying and never give up.  You can do anything you set your mind too.

I want to send a huge thank you to National American Miss for this amazing opportunity.  You have helped me grow and learned a lot.  I have gain public speaking skills and took a lot from this pageant.  Thank you to all the directors.  Thank you to my mother who has been my biggest supporter and never letting me give up.  Thank you to my amazing brother who has been my escort for the past three years this couldn’t have been possible with out you.  My grandma Linda thank you for everything you have done and always being there.  Also thank you to my friend Riley and his amazing mom and dad for supporting me I knew I could always count on them.

Finally, to my successor, make the most of your time take lots of pictures, and have lots of fun.  Make your state proud and have fun with your sisters queens you will gain a bond like no other.  Remember you are all smart and beautiful.  Be confident and never give up.  One thing I can tell you is to always smile and be happy.

Hello everyone, I’m your reigning 2014-2015 Jr pre-teen queen Yanelly Quiros. I can’t believe that this year has passed in a blink of an eye. When I heard my name called as the next jr pre-teen queen I was in complete shock. This past year I’ve had so much fun making appearances at our local parades with my sister queen and doing volunteer work for the organization called Hands on Orlando, sorting packages for the homeless and sending item to homeless children in Haiti.
My journey at Nationals was one of my best new experiences I’ve ever had. There were many moments that I will never forget. Since the first day I arrived I made so many new friends. Having memorable moments at Disney and Hollywood tour. I also had a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner at the Thanksgiving banquet with my family. The activities were just as fun, including the 70’s theme party. I became good friends with Miss Oregon; we actually had so much in common, and shared lots of laughs.

To my NAMily, thank you for giving me such a great experience. It’s because of NAM that I was able to break out of my shell of shyness and show who I truly am. I want to give a special thank you to my Mom, Dad, Grandmother, and Grandfather. You are the four people in my life who believed in me and always support me in everything I do. I love you all to the moon and back. Finally to my successor this next year is going to be an amazing experience that you will never forget. Take in and enjoy every moment that comes your way. Remember believing in yourself is the first secret to success. I am your 2014  jr pre-teen queen Yanelly Quiros.

Blain Waldorf once said, “The thing about new beginnings is that they require something else to end.” Even though this is a bitter / sweet moment for me, I could not have been more blessed to have had this journey. Just a year ago, I was going though the mall and found an open call letter addressed to me from National American Miss. I’ve never been more excited and nervous to try something new. The fun filled weekend at the pageant was more than I could put into words. I had this sense of a piece in my heart like I knew this was for me. When I heard my name called as your new Miss Florida Teen, my heart completely dropped. I couldn’t grasp that it was really me. I was shocked and thrilled to be crowned with this honorable responsibility. Right away I went straight to work, creating fundraising and speaking to girls of all ages, defining inner beauty. I had events for my family’s local charity, Foster Closet, a non profit for North Florida’s foster children.
My favorite part of my reign, would have to be all the amazing people I’ve met, they have all impacted my life.
National American Miss has taught me confidence. I’ve grown more confidence in myself. Not only on stage, but off in my everyday life.
I would like to thank God for giving me this wonderful opportunity to shine. To my Mom and Dad for their constant support and love.. Miss Lakisha. For cheering me on…And when my name was announceds as Teen Queen, My Family and Friends for being the loudest crowd ever! And of course, I could never forget my sister queens – Ava, Morgan, Kayley Erika, Jireh and Brittany….LOVE YA – Sista’s forever!!
And to my successor…Congratulations. You are in for the journey of your life, but remember one thing… Always stay humble! Things may not turn out the way your hoped, but there is a plan designed for you. You don’t need a sash around your chest and a crown around your head to make a difference in this world. You need to be yourself and everything else will fall into place.
Now I would like to pass this quote down to you. “It’s the oldest storing in the world. One day you’re seventeen and planning for someday and then quietly and without you ever really noticing someday is today. That someday is yesterday and this is your life. WE spend so much time wanting, pursuing, wishing – but ambinistion is good, chasing things with integrity is good, - Dreaming. If you had a friend you knew you would never see again what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love what would it be? Say it! Do it! Don’t Wait! Nothing last forever. Make a wish. Place it in your heart. Anything you want everything you want. Do you have it? Good. Now believe it could come true. You never know where the next miracle is going to come from, the next memory, the next smile, and the next wish that will come true. But if you believe that it’s right around the corner, and you open your heart and mind to the possibility of it… to the certainty of it you just might be the thing you wished for. The world is full of magic; you just have to believe in it. So make your wish, do you have it? Good. Now believe in it with all your heart.
2014 Miss Florida Teen, Reagan McGuire

Dear State Finalists and Families,
Congratulations on becoming a North Florida State Finalist! This is an honor you will carry with you, your entire life. This weekend will be one of the most fun and exciting weekends of your life.
Through my year as Miss Florida Junior Teen, I have met many lifelong friends and made many unforgettable memories. As my journey began, I met many of my fellow sister queens and immediately felt welcomed by the entire NAM staff. Spending time as visiting royalty at other pageants and at nationals with my sisters made a bond that will never be broken.
Nationals was definitely one of the most fun experiences during my reign. This is when all of your sister queens are in one place and you have time to bond. I got to experience Disneyland with all of my new friends and also had a fun photoshoot at the castle. Then I spent time with my family on the Hollywood tour. A very important aspect of your nationals experience is to become closer with your family members. They are there to support you and be
there for you when you get stressed. My mom was definitely my biggest cheerleader during that week, and I could not have made it through the week without her. It is so exciting to spend Thanksgiving at Nationals. I was surrounded with new friends and family who were there for me. During the Thanksgiving dinner my grandparents were honored as being the couple who had been married the longest. That was such an amazing moment to spend with my family there. At the end of nationals I was blessed to have made top 10 in the nation. When I was called for top 10, Rayvon Owen escorted and sang to each of us as we walked back onto the stage. A couple months later Rayvon came in 4th place on the popular television show American Idol. I will carry these amazing experiences with me for the rest of my life.
The most rewarding part of my reign was definitely my service works. I was blessed with the opportunity to read to The Trinity Rescue Mission children every other week. They named this time with the kids “Reading with the Queen.” However through this, I had the time to get to know some of the children, and spend time listening to them about their lives. When I first began volunteering there, I thought I was going to be giving them happiness, and that I would brighten their days a little. Although the children were always excited to see me, I definitely got more out of it than what I gave. The kid’s smiling faces always made my days better than what they were before. If I was having a rough day before I went to go see them, my day became more worth-while. Another one of my favorite events was when I participated in the Take Steps for
Crohn’s and Colitis walk. My next door neighbor was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, and I had the opportunity to walk with her in this walk. She was able to raise her goal amount, which will
go toward paying for some of her hospital bills.
Through my experiences with NAM, I gained newfound confidence. It gave me better speaking skills, interview skills, and taught me how to keep my poise in scary situations (like
speaking in front of people). This confidence definitely helped me when I went to a new school last year. I am so thankful for the opportunity NAM gave to my family and me.
I am so excited for you and your family’s weekend to begin. Through this I hope you make as many new friends as possible, become closer with your family, and gain confidence in the
beautiful girl you are! Be sure to compete this weekend with honor and grace. You deserve the best weekend possible and I hope you strive to accomplish all of your goals for this year.

Best of wishes to you and your family!
2014 NAM Miss Florida Junior Teen

Hello, this is Miss Florida Jr. Preteen, Megan Henry. I’ve had a great year and wanted to say thank you. I first want to say thank you to NAM. You’ve given me many skills like confidence, stage presence, and interview skills. Confidence helps you talk to new people or speak in front of a large crowd. Stage presence is to be mindful of what you’re doing on stage. Interview skills are what you need if you want a job. NAM has given me these tree things and more. Thank you NAM for what you’ve given me!
I would also like to thank my sister queens for helping me throughout the year. Most of my sister queens have done NAM before and knows exactly what to do and how. I’ve had a lot of fun getting to know you guys. My favorite parts were the open calls and taking pictures! Thank you sister queens for all the fun!
I would love to give a big thanks to my sponsors for donating money to me. You guys are a big part of why I’m Miss Florida. Donating is something you don’t have to do, but my sponsors did anyway. I might not have gotten the dress I got without you guys. Thank you sponsors for donating so generously!
And the last people that I would like to thank is my family. They’re so many things to thank you for that you don’t even know. I would like to thank my Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas, Grandpas, and other family members for supporting me and donating for the pageant. I’d like to give a special thanks to my sister, Taryn, and my brother, Benjamin, for supporting me and taking excellent pictures. I would lastly like to give a very, very, very special thanks to my mom and dad for letting me do the pageant and go to California to compete. My family is my biggest supporter and I love them. Thank you family!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!
Yours Truly,
Miss Florida Jr. Preteen, Megan

Wow! What a year this has been. I tried my first pageant ever and was so excited that I actually was crowned Miss Washington!!!  Having this title has opened a lot of doors for me and I feel so grateful to NAM for giving me this opportunity!

My shock didn’t stop in Washington though.  At Nationals in California I was having the time of my life just being there but was further blessed beyond my wildest dreams to be crowned the National American Miss Princess.  I still can’t believe this dream that I live in as your National Princess.

I have had an amazing year of service making 78 “Wish Packs” for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, participating in many walks to benefit babies, epilepsy, and starving children, to name a few.  Picking out and buying Christmas presents, for a homeless shelter, was one of my favorite projects because of seeing the joy of the children when they opened their gifts. I even gave a 45 min. presentation on making a difference in the world at an elementary school assembly.

I had the BEST time with my amazing sister queens! Thank you for shining the way for me!  To all state finalist, always keep a smile on your face and remember that every girl is a princess…you just have to believe it!  To my successor, I wish you the best year ever and don’t forget to enjoy every second!

For the last time, I am your 2014-2015 Miss Washington Princess Hailey Stroh.

A few words from your 2014 Miss Pennsylvania Jr. Teen Rachel Bish

When I received my first NAM letter, I knew nothing about pageantry. I thought this would give me an excuse to wear a pretty dress, have fun and make new friends.
Little did I know that years later I would capture the title of 2014 NAM PA Jr. Teen.

The moment after I was crowned, my life changed. I have had the opportunity to volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Bike-a-Thon in honor of my mother, volunteer for a 5K race and help receive a $60,000 grant for the Community Food Warehouse, donate books and toys to deserving children, smile and wave to crowds in several parades and speak to young children about the effects of bullying.
Without perseverance and determination, I would not have had so many opportunities in making a difference throughout my community and meeting so many wonderful people along my travels.
Competing in the National pageant in Anaheim, California and being in the Top 5 for Spokesmodel has been one of the highlights of my year. But nothing compares to the bond I have created with my sister queens.
Thank you to my wonderful state directors, Sandy and Nicole for this amazing opportunity to be party of NAMily. I truly am blessed and will continue to volunteer throughout my community beyond the remainder of my year of service.

"If you can believe in it...you can achieve it."

Love always, your 2014 NAM Pa Jr. Teen, Rachel Bish

Interview with Miss Nebraska USA Hoang-Kim Cung!

NAM:How did competing in National American Miss prepare you for Miss Nebraska USA, and now Miss USA?
Hoang-Kim:I believe pageants are a great place for young women to gain valuable life skills, including being an eloquent public speaker, expressing your opinions when chatting with others and learning how to carry yourself well. National American Miss definitely created a solid foundation for me when I decided I wanted to compete in the Miss USA system.

NAM:What advice would you give a girl contemplating participating in NAM for the first time?

Hoang-Kim: JUST DO IT! Fortune favors the bold and you never know what you could stand to gain from competing in NAM. Ten  years ago, my Mom encouraged me to compete because she wanted me to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. Little did my family know how much that decision would change my life and transform me into a bold, confident young woman with plenty of ambitions.

NAM: How do you see your life 10 years from now?
Hoang-Kim: I will be even closer to achieving my dream of being a morning anchor for a national news network. I’m already taking those steps now as a reporter and fill-in anchor for NBC Nebraska. I’m very passionate about my fashion and lifestyle and would love to see it prosper and help other young women when making choices when it comes to fashion, beauty and lifestyle.

NAM:What was your favorite part about representing NAM?
Hoang-Kim: Being the National American Miss in 2012 and 2013 gave me incredible memories to cherish. If I had to pick a favorite part it would have to be the girls, whether that meant becoming true sisters with my sister queens or seeing a girl’s face light up after they got to chat with me or take a quick photo. Being able to serve as a role model, who showed hard work and a little bit of grit will take you far, was priceless..

NAM:What are you most excited about when you think about representing Nebraska at Miss USA?
Hoang-Kim: Last year I remember sitting on my couch watching Miss USA, never thinking just one year later, I’d be packing and going myself! Miss USA is the epitome of pageants so just being able to have the opportunity to step on that stage and having Nebraska on my chest is just incredible. I think it will really hit me in introductions when I’ll say into a microphone to the world, “Hoang-Kim Cung, Nebraska!”

NAM:What is your ultimate goal as a titleholder? What do you hope to accomplish?
Hoang-Kim: I’ve always aspired to inspire others whether it’s through my actions or words and I truly believe Miss USA can do it all. I worked crazy-long hours as a reporter, I still kept up with my fashion and lifestyle blog, reading all the books I could, while finding time to call my parents almost every night. Throughout my reign, if I can empower others to see their value and strengths and not sacrifice any of their passions, I would feel more than accomplished.

NAM: For someone who is just starting out in pageants, How do you recommend they practice public speaking skills?
Hoang-Kim: It starts with the individual and their comfort level! I practied in front of my bedroom mirror for quite a while, then I advanced to my family, then friends and soon enough, there I was ontage saying my personal introduction. You just have to be willing to take risks and get out of your comfort zone.

NAM: What have you learned from competing in pageants?
Hoang-Kim: I started pageants so I could overcome my shyness and become a better public speaker, but when I reflect on my journey, I have gained so much more. Through pageants I have connected with some of the most incredible young women who upon meeting and chatting, I feel like I’ve known since birth. I’ve realized raw talent doesn’t get you far, it’s hard work and grit. Pageants have really helped transform me into the bold and perservant woman I am today.

NAM:We love reading your fashion blog , colorandchic.com, Where do you get your style inspiration from?
Hoang-Kim:My style is classic and feminine, so I am easily inspired, whether it’s from all the flowers at the farmer’s market, a pillow with interesting color combinations at a home décor store, or even just walking around the street. Of course, I do love checking out other blogs to get ideas too, but I always make them my own with some tweaks.

NAM: How do you pick out the perfect pageant dress for you?
Hoang-Kim: I like to start with a silhouette flattering to my body and from there I go by feeling. There have been a lot of times I’ve walked into a store with an idea of what I’d like and fall in love with something else. You have to trust your gut and choose the dress making you feel like a winner! Don’t get too preoccupied with styles and trends or if someone else might have it. Just do you!

NAM: A big part of being a titleholder is volunteering and getting involved in your community. What are some ways girls can start volunteering in their home towns?
Hoang-Kim: Service is a big part of my reign and I do a lot of volunteering. There are so many different organizations out there, so girls should first decide what they’re passionate about. Do they love food, animals, or public speaking? Food banks, animal shelters or speaking to younger peers are great places to start for those. If a girl or her family has been affected by an illness or a disease seek out those organizations. I truly believe there are many different organizations who need our help and there’s a right fit for each person!

NAM:What do you want your legacy to be? How do you want to be remembered as a titleholder?

Hoang-Kim:There are countless qualities that make a great titleholder including being kind, being outgoing, having a great attitude and so much more. For me, I want to be able to impact other people’s lives positively by empowering them. Every person has strengths and a skill set unique to them. If I can encourage others to know their value and how that can increae their confidence and down the line change their life, that would be the legacy I’d want to leave.

Dear 2015 Pennsylvania Jr Pre Teen State Finalist-
I am so excited that you all are coming to this year’s pageant. It is going to be full of excitement and I can’t wait to have so much fun with you. Make sure you remember to bring your camera so we can take lots of pictures together. Also don’t forget your dancing shoes for the 80’s Party!
I’ve been so busy this year, 1st I went to the National Pageant in California! My family and I enjoyed every moment of that trip! I’ve been visiting as royalty at many local events, pageants, and parades. I’ve done community service projects though our local chapter of Crowns for Cause. We participated in French creek clean up day, MS Bike tour, Charity walks, and Children’s Fairs. I really enjoyed working with the public. Being a state Queen means much more than wearing a sash and crown, it means giving back to your community and sharing kindness with all that surround you.
This August is when it all will begin for you girls! I want you all to bring your great personalities and smiles! I will be there rooting for you all and I can’t wait to meet you. My two favorite sayings are “With Hard Work and Determination Your Dreams Do Come True!” and “Remember to Always Keep Smiling!!!”

Sincerely,
Kylie Paige Beck

In 2007, I stepped on the National American Miss stage as a frail 11 year old unaware of the life-changing journey I will soon embark on. Eight years later with two state titles, I cannot be more thankful for the opportunities and doors opened by National American Miss. I cannot believe that the time has come to pass on the title of Miss Florida Teen.

It has been a whirlwind of a year to say the least! During my reign I volunteered at hospitals and nursing homes, made special appearances in other pageants, traveled around the state as an emcee for numerous festivals, organizations, and events.

The highlight of my year was traveling to Hollywood, California to represent Florida. I was in cloud 9 to be reunited with old friends and meet new friends from across the country! Nationals was more than I could ever dream off - from the Hollywood tour, Disneyland and themed rehearsals. I was so honored and blessed to bring home Best Resume, 3rd runner up Thank you Note, 1st runner up to the National Photogenic title, and won TWO National titles: National Most Promising Model and National Casual Wear Model! Furthermore, I was blessed to have placed 3rd runner up in the entire nation to the National Queen’s title!!!

I am so thankful for all those who have been part of this beautiful journey, I would not be here without your unconditional love and support. National American Miss has become a huge part of my life for eight years and I am incredibly grateful for the friends, memories, and life skills that I have gained from this wonderful organization.

To all the girls competing and dreaming to hold this prestigious title, keep reaching for the stars and make it a goal to grow and improve as a person during pageant weekend. And to my successor, live your dream and walk into your new reality! Congratulations and good luck at nationals!

Crowns and kisses,

Michaela Abelgas

Twelve years ago, I stood on the NAM stage for the first time as a Princess which is where I began to make and treasure memories, and gain valuable friendships. Today, I have become a confident woman who has goals, ambitions and have learned so many life lessons. Being a two time NJ NAM State Queen, it is safe to say that I LOVE NAM and I am thankful for the opportunities I have had in my life.
This year, I attended the ‘Miss America’ Pageant in Atlantic City, volunteered at the ‘Back to School Community Fair’ in my town, participated in the ‘Cancer Ends Here’ walk, walked in the ‘Bordentown Halloween Parade’, was a hostess at the ‘Heart Ball’ for the American Heart Association, performed at the NJ ‘Veterans Home’, walked and volunteered in the ‘Cure for Arthritis’ run/walk, rode in the ‘Memorial Day Parade’, rode in the ‘Fourth of July Parade’, attended numerous NJ Open Calls/Training Sessions, and was visiting royalty at the KY and Upstate NY Pageants.
As you can see, I have had a fun and busy year. I would like to wish the best of luck to all of you this weekend. Remember to smile, be confident and most importantly ‘have fun’ and create countless memories that will last a lifetime. National American Miss is a pageant system like no other and it is what dreams are truly made of.
I couldn’t be more honored to be your 2014 National American Miss New Jersey Teen.

Much love,

Krystle Tomlinson
