I also worked with my community on The Keep Evansville Beautiful project by cleaning up our streets. In addition, I helped the CSI by assuring at the ticket counter for a cultural event.
This September, I will be walking a fashion show during New York Fashion Week.

I can’t believe how quickly a year goes by!  On August 14, 2016 I was crowned National American Miss New Jersey Pre-Teen Cover Girl.  I was so excited to bond with my sister queen National American Miss New Jersey Pre-Teen, Nyla. We exchanged numbers with each other and our other sister queens and the rest was history.
My year started with a photo shoot starring the NAM New Jersey Royalty at the beach. Most of us went to lunch afterwards with our families so we could bond some more.
I joined the NAM New Jersey Princess and Jr. Pre-Teen to raise money for charity by holding an Alex’s Lemonade Stand.  We had so much fun!
Some of the older girls got together to make some meals at the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch, NJ.  It was a lot of fun sharing the kitchen and working together. I volunteered with my sister Pre-Teen Queen Nyla at a homeless shelter spreading good cheer and fun to some young children.Next on my journey was a send off party for Nationals!  We all got together to discuss Nationals, get advice from our sister queens who had previously been to Nationals and of course good luck wishes for each other as we were hoping for any of us to return home with additional titles!  We had a lot of fun meeting other NAM girls from across the country.
Upon our return home, after an amazing experience at Nationals, we had a holiday celebration. The new year started off with a festive day at a NY Rangers game with Namily. Our families bonded some more as we checked at a special outdoor celebration which concluded with a visit to see the Stanley Cup Trophy.
Along with Nyla & our moms we headed to North Carolina to volunteer at the South Caroline/North Carolina Pageant.  We had a wonderful time meeting their current royalty and becoming friends.  They were very welcoming to us.  The girls and their moms were great! We had a blast meeting the Pre-Teen contestants.
So far this has been the best year ever!  I have developed friendships with my fellow queens which I know will last a lifetime.  My advice to anyone competing in a NAM pageant is to relax and have fun!  No matter what the pageant outcome you will make some new friends that will probably become friends for life!

Good luck and I can’t wait to meet my fellow competitors at the National American Miss New Jersey Pageant.  See you soon.

The day I was crowned was the happiest day of my life. Who would ever have imagined that I could win my first pageant. Since being crowned my life took me on an incredible journey where I have done many unimaginable things and made friends that I know I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
After being crowned I knew I wanted to accomplish big things and give back to my community. The first thing I did was work with the National Charity League at the annual Camp to Belong reuniting foster kids with their birth siblings for a single week over the summer. One of the things I did is help set up stores at the camp so that the kids could pick out and try on whatever formal outfit they wanted to wear for the final night of camp. It made me so happy to see the smiling looks on the kids faces when they put on their first ever fancy outfit.
Another thing that I did to give back to my community is I used the prize money I won to buy 20 pillows, 40 pillowcases, and 50 emergency blankets for the homeless teen shelter, Friends of Youth. I noticed when delivering the pillows that their fridge was falling apart and their shelves were held together by duct tape. I used the remainder of the money to purchase new shelves. Then after installing the shelves I wiped down their entire fridge. All the people at Friends of Youth shelter were very thankful and many of the homeless teenagers reported that they had slept better. This feedback made my heart very happy and I felt as though I had made a difference in my community and in the lives of many people.
Then it was off to Nationals where I got to spend time with my sister queen Ally.  Ever since the two of us were crowned together we quickly bonded and couldn’t wait to spend time at nationals together.  We had so much fun at the beach, in Disneyland and just having fun in all the rehearsals.  I also had the chance to spend time with all the new friends I made along the way. For the rest of my life I will carry with me the memories we made and the bonds we formed that week, as well as the excitement of getting my first ever Spirit Stick.
After Nationals, it was back to volunteering in my community.  I worked at the Issaquah Food Bank, the Eastside Baby Corner Annual Luncheon, and I continued to serve monthly meals to the homeless teens at Friends of Youth.

Now I would like to recognize some of the people that have made this amazing journey so memorable. I would like to thank my mom and dad for their constant support in everything that I do. And for giving me all the love in the world whenever I needed it. Next, I would like to thank my sister queens. Bella and Kendall, you are best little sisters anyone could ask for. Thank you for all the fun times and always making me laugh. Marianne, Ty, and Kayzin thank you so much for being such great big sisters and for always looking out for me. All of you have been such great sister queens and I have loved getting to know each of you individually. Lastly, I would like to thank all the great friends I have made along the way that I will cherish memories with for eternity. And I would especially like to thank Ella Sadler for being my best friend and Kim and Kendall Sadler for their support and advice. If it were not for them I never would have entered a pageant. Signing off I am and forever will be your 2016 Miss Washington pre-teen Kate Dixon.

The past year has been an amazing journey.    From being crowned Miss Florida Junior Pre-Teen, to competing against the most amazing girls at Nationals, to participating in countless hours of community service, my time as Queen has been an incredible experience.

I have enjoyed the crown and banner.  I had so much fun in California at Nationals.  None of that compares to the pride I took in using my title to give back to my community.

I volunteered and raised money for Parkland Buddy Sports, helping special needs children participate in organized sports.  I was the top fundraiser at my school for the American Heart Association.  Some of the most fun I had was volunteering at the Mad Hatter Tea Party, a fundraiser raising money for the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund.  I even got to dress up as the Mad Hatter.

I cannot forget all the friends that I made at the State and National Pageant.   I know these are friendships that will last forever.   In particular, I want to thank my Sister Queens Ella, Gabi, Lexi, and Janae.  You will always have a special place in my heart.  I am always amazed by how beautiful these girls are inside and out, and I am so proud to be part of their NAMily.

NAM has helped me become more confident and has reminded me of the importance of being kind and generous.   The honor of being Miss Florida Junior Pre-Teen is something that I will never forget.

I would like to thank my mom for always making sure I look my best.  I want to thank my dad for being the best escort a girl could ask for.  I cannot forget Mr. and Mrs. Mayes.   Thank you for giving me this awesome opportunity.   NAM has changed my life forever, giving me the opportunity to be the best version of me.
Ms. LaKishia, thank you for always supporting me.  I want to thank my mentors, Ashlhea and Haley, for teaching me the value of hard-work and dedication.

As my year comes to an end, I hope the next Miss Florida Junior Pre-Teen enjoys her experience as much as I have, cherishes every moment because it goes by so fast, and remembers that it is better to give than to receive.

Dear Contestants, Friends, and Family,
This past year has been unforgettable.  I still cannot believe just one year ago my dream came true and I was crowned your Miss New Jersey Teen 2016.  I’ve been blessed with so many opportunities and have met so many amazing and inspiring people not only this year, but throughout my journey with National American Miss.
Throughout my year I had the opportunity to compete at Nationals in sunny California over Thanksgiving week with my beautiful sister queens and met so many other amazing NAM girls.  I also got to volunteer at many events such as carnivals, parades, food pantries, clothing drives, and many more.  One of my favorite things was getting to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and cook with my sister queens.   I was lucky enough to be recognized by my mayor for all of my volunteer work with my NAM title.  I had the opportunity to emcee at a out of state pageant with my title.  We also got to represent NAM at a New Jersey Devils hockey game and a Trenton Thunder baseball game.  Throughout this year I also was fortunate enough to travel to a few state pageants and meet contestants from all over.
This year would not have been possible without my directors Steve and Kathleen Mayes and all of the amazing NAM staff.  Thank you for creating such an amazing organization that betters the lives of millions of girls.  National American Miss has truly shaped me to become the person I am today.  Thank you Mom and Dad for always supporting me in everything I do and always believing in me, even when my favorite thing to say was “just one more dress”.
Good luck to all of the beautiful contestants!  Just be yourself and have fun this weekend.  Make memories and lots of friends and don’t forget to smile, this is your time to shine!  To the new New Jersey Teen, make every moment count, it goes by way too fast.  Take lots of pictures, travel a lot, and never take any moment for granted.  I can’t wait to meet you all this weekend!

Your Miss New Jersey Teen 2016,
Melissa Oakes

My NAM journey began in the Summer of 2014 when I, like all of the other contestants, received that NAM open call letter in the mail. I was this shy 12-year-old girl who had only been in one pageant but also excited for what was in the store. I shyly attended open call and had my first photo shoot. Leaving open call, I was praying and hoping to get a second invitation. After what seemed like forever, it came in the mail and I was so excited.
Walking away as first runner up in my first NAM Pageant was amazing, but what was better was the boost in confidence and self- esteem that came from that accomplishment. Fast forward to summer 2016 where I won BIG! I walked away with the Most Photogenic award, the Most Promising Model award, was 2nd runner up in the Casual Wear competition and won the Spirit of America Award but, best of all, I was crowned your 2016 Florida Preteen Covergirl.
During my reign, I had the opportunity to volunteer at several organization such as Give Kids the World where my sister queens and I played princesses for the kids in the village. I also volunteered at Feeding the Children Everywhere where I helped prepare 20,000 meals in 1 hour and a half that were delivered to children of Central Florida. Volunteering inspired me to start my own foundation “Alexa’s Closet” where I partnered with the Women’s Resource center of Winter haven to provide gently used clothing and basic necessities to homeless children throughout Central Florida. Open calls were great too!
I would like to thank God for allowing me to have such an experience, Mr. and Mrs. Mayes for putting together a pageant that is deeper than beauty and helps young girls get prepared for the future. I would like to thank my brothers for putting up with all the girly stuff and being such great escorts, my aunt Tammy and uncle Nehi for always supporting me and traveling with me everywhere I go, my uncle Remmon for sponsoring me when I need it and most of all Mom, Dad, and Grandma. Mommy, thank you for always preparing me, practicing with me and putting all my clothes together. Dad, thank you for always being a great escort and always encouraging me to do my best and Grandma, thank you for providing my sponsorship, clothing and supporting me in everything I do. To my sister queens I have enjoyed the time we spent together, thank you. To my NAM sisters thank you for the lasting friendships we have built.

To my successor, enjoy every moment of your NAM journey, make it the most memorable experience you can and hang on for the ride, it goes fast! For the girls whose names are not called on stage tonight, don’t stop here! Continue your NAM journey and fulfill your dream because a NAM girl is a girl with dreams. If at first you don’t succeed try, try again. Signing off your 2016 Miss Florida Preteen Covergirl Alexa Marie Major.

Just over 9 years ago I stepped onto this stage and began a journey that has forever changed my life. After starting my adventure with National American MIss here in Florida, my family and I moved to Ohio where I continued competing for 7 more years. Each time I stepped onto that the stage I became more confident and more empowered in who I was. Even though each time I competed it was never my time to capture the title, I still kept coming back because I knew i was gaining so much more than just a crown and sash.

However when I heard my name called as the new Miss Florida Teen, I was overcome with emotion. Less then 48 hours after being crowned I jumped on a plane for the Ohio state pageant. Being reunited with my Ohio girls and celebrating with my Namily was so special. celebrating with them was so much fun!

This year I've had so many incredible opportunities. From with the girls at the Orlando Rescue Mission, meeting with my local Congressman and chatted politics, worked with my organization, Confidence Counts, rode in many parades and was able to be Santa's helper. Yet the biggest honor was being able to thank countless men and women for their service and be a guest speaker on Fox News chief White House correspondent, Ed Henry's book tour!

Everything Ive been able to accomplish wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for my family always supported me. From the early hair and make sessions, driving me to all the open calls and never saying my dreams are too big. Thank you Sydney, Brie, Christine and of course my parents for all you do.

To my sister queens: Ella and Ayla i loved getting to attend open calls with you and always playing with those snapchat filters, Gabby you're like family and there's never a dull moment together, "trumpet forever"! Lexi your laughter is so contagious and i loved our random Disney dates. From our scavenger hunts around Disney, sleepovers, volunteering together and photoshoots. You all have made this year everything I always dreamed of. To Mr. and Mrs. Mayes thank you for giving us all this incredible opportunity and everything you've done.

To the girls standing backstage don't let this one night define who you are. For no matter what the results may be, use this as a stepping stone to accomplish your dreams. Always and forever I am your 2016 National American Miss Miss Florida Teen. Janae Marie Kinne

Hey Girls!

My name is Lexi Delgado and I'm so excited to be here with you this upcoming pageant weekend! Being your 2016 National American Miss Florida Junior Teen has been such a blessing and I'm so excited to see who the next lucky girl will be. Throughout my year of service, I've gotten the chance to work closely with the JDRF, an organization that funds Type 1 Diabetes, a disease that is near and dear to my heart. I've helped raise over a million dollars to fund a cure and I'm so excited to continue changing the lives of many who have been effected by this disease. Alongside this, I avidly perform at my local community theatre and entertain thousands of people of all ages, making my passion for theatre even greater! Without the help of National American Miss, I NEVER would've seen myself grow as a person and step out of my comfort zone. Before I became involved with NAM, I had stage fright and would hate speaking in front of people. I was always nervous of what people would think, but I have gained confidence with my involvement in pageantry and with NAM. Throughout my years with this beautiful organization, I've grown out of my shell and blossomed into a young woman with even bigger dreams.

To my friends and family, thank you so much for your support. I love all of you for always believing in me. You all inspire me to achieve greatness. To Mr. and Mrs. Mayes, thank you so much for creating such an amazing organization that fosters greatness in young girls and young woman. I am forever grateful to National American Miss and what it stands for.

To all the girls competing this weekend, please do not let the outcome of this weekend define who you are and how you feel about yourself. NEVER compare yourself to others, as that will only cause you to lose faith in yourself, and that's the most important thing you could ever learn. You are all beautiful in your own way and a crown and banner shouldn't be the only thing that makes you feel like a queen. Remember that if you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask me, I am here to help.  Please stay true to yourself. Be true. Be you. Be YOU-tiful! Have fun and take lots of pictures; you will be creating memories for a lifetime to remember!

Love,

Your 2016 NAM Florida Jr. Teen, Lexi Delgado

Hi everyone. I'm Gabriela Baez your 2016 NAM Miss. Florida PreTeen and I'm very excited to get to know each and everyone of you girls competing.  A few things about me:  I will be attending a performing arts school in the fall majoring in dance.  My other love is photography.  One day I hope to become a photojournalist capturing moments in history.  I have three dogs which keep my family busy but I love them to death.

As your Florida PreTeen, I was able to attend the Winter Garden Christmas parade along with my sister queen, Janae.  I also continued working on a non profit organization that is near and dear to my heart especially because my friend and her brother started it.  The organization provides birthday parties for children in need.  Who doesn't love a birthday party!!   I also was able to participate in the Models for Miracles organization where we raise money for the Children's Miracle Network by hosting an auction and dinner followed by a modeling show.

One of the highlights of my reign was Nationals in California.  It was my first time there and it was so much fun getting to meet the other contestants and do some sightseeing as well as exploring the great wonders of Disneyland.

My advice to all the girls competing is to always be yourself and be confident because all of you are winners and just remember to always wear your invisible crown. I know that you will have the best time at state and I'm sad to say that my year as your 2016 Miss Florida PreTeen is coming to an end, but I know that someone else will take that challenge and do great things with the title.
This is your time to shine and I know that your families are going to be so proud of you for making it to this level and remember, always be the best version of you.

Good Luck!!

Congratulations to all the Florida State finalists!!!
You all are about to embark on a fantastic adventure – one that will change your life forever!  I am so proud of you for taking this step and becoming a state finalist!  The pageant weekend is going to be so much fun and I am so excited to share it with you!
My name is Ella Votapka and I am 7 and ½ years old from Orlando, Florida.  I am an honor roll student and on my way to 2nd grade in the fall.  I enjoy tumbling, t-ball, clogging, ballet, girl scouts, and singing in church.  In my free time I also love to do art projects, play with my brother and sister, and ride my bike.  This was my second year competing in NAM and I was so excited and honored to be the 2016 Miss Florida Princess.
I have learned so much about what it means to truly be a Princess by giving back to my community and to those in need.  I started my journey off by promoting a message of hope and love to our Florida communities by visiting the One Orlando memorial.  I visited Give Kids the World with my sister queens and helped greet the guests.  I loved meeting and talking with all the children!  I volunteered at Feeding Children Everywhere by packaging meals, and helped out at the Ronald McDonald House a couple of times by making dinner, making desserts, and delivering 9 dozen homemade cookies for the families.  I also helped bring Christmas dinner to our local fire station, visited the elderly at Dixie Oaks Manor, and read a story to a group of VPK and Kindergarten classes from the daycare I attended when I was little.  I enjoyed representing NAM as I rode in the Christmas and 4th of July parades and of course, I helped out our Central Florida Animal Shelter by showing some love to the cuties up for adoption.
Nationals in Anaheim, California was a week filled with fun!  My favorite parts were meeting so many new friends from across the USA and going to Disneyland!  I was the first one in the Princess division to win a Spirit Stick for my pageant spirit and I also won 2nd runner up for my essay about NAMily – how the friends you make in NAM become like your extended family.  Some of my best friends came from NAM and I am truly grateful.  I will forever cherish these lifelong friendships and the experiences we shared together.
This year has been unforgettable and I am so excited to pass on this role to my successor.  Remember to be yourself, meet lots of new friends, and have the time of your life!

I will forever be your 2016 Miss Florida Princess, Ella Votapka.

I was so honored to win the title of NJ State Cover Girl 2016-2017 at my state pageant last year.  I put in so much hard work and effort and it paid off.  I have so many amazing sponsors and wouldn’t have been successful without them.  I stared out my reign by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house making some meals with my sister queens where we had a great time.  Next, we flew off to Nationals where I earned the title of National Cover Model.  I was so happy to see so many of my friends I had met in the past and also make so many new friends.  We had a blast at Disney, the glow party, all the optional contests and of course the All-American Pageant.  I was so happy to see all the staff that now seem like family the choreographers and of course Steve & Kathleen Mayes.  I was so sad to see it end.  When I got home I got busy volunteering in the production of the Nutcracker to raise money for pediatric cancer research and treatment with my brother.  My sister queens got together and had a super time at a Devils hockey game where we all bonded and even got to go to the entrance and high five the players as they were getting on the ice.  Next my brother, a friend and I did a 5K walk-a-thon for the March of Dimes.  I raised several hundred dollars so far for March of Dimes, Colon Cancer Association, Pediatric Cancer Research & Treatment & Autism NJ Foundation.  This year my brother and I also became Ambassadors for the Autism NJ foundation as we have many friends that have Autism & Asperger’s.  Some of our sister queens went to support the pre-teen Cover Girl Lauren at her Bat Mitzvah where we created memories we won’t forget.  I also had a great time doing a photo shoot with my sister queens.  Something I loved doing was volunteering to help student teach the younger kids at my dance school where they have a dance camp as working with children is so rewarding. I also did a Colon Cancer walk-a-thon which I do annually.  This year went so fast and I can’t believe it has come to an end but that doesn’t mean I will forget the friendships made and the memories created.  Signing out your 2016-2017 NJ State Cover Girl and National Cover Model Madison Scheideler.

On August 13th of 2016, I walked into the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, NJ not knowing what was about to unfold. I was nervous but I took the stage with as much confidence as I could. I didn’t know that on August 14th, I would be crowned Miss New Jersey Pre-Teen; definitely the best day ever... and the whirlwind ride began.
During my year I had the opportunity to use my title as a platform for my volunteer work. I was blessed to be able to draw more attention to the needs of the hungry through my charity Tattoos for Food and my work with the Our Lady of Sorrows’ food pantry. I worked with homeless children through the Interfaith Hospitality Network; I was the official starter for the National Cervical Cancer Coalition’s annual charity race; I partnered with One Warm Coat and my local Ford dealership to collect and distribute coats to the needy; and I was the keynote speaker for a fundraiser to benefit the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit of St. Barnabas Medical Center.
Then it was off to Anaheim California for Nationals where I had the chance to meet many amazing and inspiring young ladies from across the country.  Some of whom I still keep in touch with and that I’m honored to call my friends.
This is a bitter sweet time for me, but it’s made so much easier by the support of my New Jersey Sister Queens: Caitlin, Phoebe, Faith, Emily, Kayla, Lauren, Maddie, and Melissa, we did so many great things together. Thank you for supporting me during my First OLS Princess pageant. I couldn’t have done it without you. You ladies are destined for great things and I wish the best for all of you. None of this would have been possible without Mr. & Mrs. Mayes who founded NAM or without the help of my family and friends who have been there for me emotionally, spiritually and financially. Mom, Dad, Tia, GM, Grandma, Auntie Marj, thank you for helping me in so many ways to be the best that I could be in representing New Jersey. I love you all. And now with a heavy heart, I leave you for now but I am, and always will be, your 2016 Miss New Jersey Pre-Teen, Nyla Edwards, signing off.

Life has been pretty busy since being crowned your National American Miss New Jersey Princess.  This year has been filled with community service, awesome appearances, meeting new people and making new friends.

Nationals was amazing. While I did not take home the crown, I came away with one of the famous Spirit Sticks, memories to last a life time, and friends that span that the country.  I even traveled to Iowa to help one of my Sister Queens turn over her crown.

Volunteering has helped me understand that no one is too young or small to make a difference.  I have worked to promote awareness for pediatric cancer, and cancer research.  I helped build literacy awareness by reading to local preschoolers and collecting book donations for a local homeless shelter.  I was fortunate enough to participate in the Jump Rope for the Heart event with my school friends, and I loved volunteering with Special Olympics as well as at the Ronald McDonald House with my Sister Queens.  Community service was a highlight of this year, and I'm grateful to National American Miss for opening this door to me.

I also made numerous special appearances including New Jersey Devils’ Hockey game and an ice cream eating contest at the Maplewood Fourth of July Celebration.  My most favorite was throwing out the first pitch at a Trenton Thunder game.

Through it all I had my sister Queens. How lucky am I to have such wonderful supportive NAMily!  My Big sisters for life.  I can't thank you all enough. I am going to miss you all so much.

To my mom and dad, thank you for your endless love and guidance, and keeping it real for a seven-year-old who wears a crown. To Ryan and Rebecca for being the head of the Emily fan club, you both rock!  I have the best little brother and sister. To all those who supported me, pop-pop, Uncle Jay, Grandpa, and so many more, especially National American Miss for this opportunity, I am forever grateful.

To the next crowned princess, I say “enjoy the ride”, because it goes fast and not every girl will have an opportunity like this.  National American Miss, you haven’t see the last of me.  I’m one little girl with big dreams and I’ll be back.  But until then, I’m your 2016 National American Miss new Jersey Princess, Emily Ewig.

Dear Contestants,

I would like to start by saying welcome and congratulations!!!
I hope you are just as excited as I was when I was getting ready to compete. I hope you put forth a lot of effort into preparing for a whole bunch of fun. I’m sure your just as nervous and excited at the same time as I was a year ago. If you are, DON’T be. Once you see how friendly and helpful others are you will shake that off and feel like you’ve been with NAM forever. I wasn’t sure of what to expect or do. But, what I learned from NAM was how to maintain confidence, no matter what. Confidence is key to your journey with National American Miss, and any journey you will take from here on out.
I was so honored and proud to represent my state as the reigning Miss New York Princess 2016-2017. I will never forget this experience and neither will you. I was able to encourage other to face the most challenging fears by representing who you are and where you come from. I would like to thank Mr and Mrs Mayes for putting such an amazing program together. You are helping us foresee what our future expectations are, and helping make a difference in our lives. I would also like to thank all of NAM team leaders. You played exceptional parts in guiding us through the year of exciting obstacles.
Shortly after my reigning, I had the privilege to go to Nationals in sunny California. It was great to see all of the crowned titles come together as a namily. I was able to go with my family. We enjoyed sharing our Thanksgiving holiday with everyone. I had so much fun going to Disney with my namily. We even did the Hollywood Tour where I met some famous people I got to take pictures with my sash. I was able to enjoy pool and family time all in the same week of competitions. An experience I will never forget.
During the past year, I had the privilege to meet town leaders, while serving the community. Alongside my fellow NAM sisters, I volunteered at the Ronald Mc Donald House making quilted blankets, and on my own time went to bake sweet treats. I walked for cures for awareness. I volunteered at the LongIsland Coalition for the Homeless donating clothing and household items. I held a baby essential drive at my school, followed by a candle light vigil where the donations were collected and handed out to those families in need. I held a holiday food and clothing drive where all donations went to anonymous families. I also supported celebrating the 5th annual Ball Gowns and Bowling Shoes, who fundraises for New York Angels Pageant and Infinite Possibilities Empowerment that inspire and empower individuals with special needs.
As fun and busy as my year was, I also learned so many things along the way. I encourage you all to do your best, but most importantly have fun. Enjoy your time, make new friends, and build lasting memories. In order to conquer your fear, you have to face them. Always remember to follow your dreams and believe in your self. Good Luck!!

                                                                 Best Wishes,
                                                                          Amoni Thompson

DISASTER RELIEF PROJECT
School supplies and children’s books
for Texas, Louisiana and Florida area schools, shelters and children in need!
Our nation has experienced two of the largest Hurricanes to hit the US coast. Hurricane Harvey and Irma brought a recored amount of rain which displayed thousands and thousands of people from their homes. Hundreds of schools and libraries are a complete loss.
So many of you have reached out to us asking "How can we help".  We are asking our NAMily from around the nation to join with us to help children in need. Whether you are a Queen, Contestant or even a NAM Enthusiast, we are challenging you to collect and send school supplies and children's book to the NAM National Office. These will then be distributed to those that directly need it to assist with their work with children.

Featuring Emily McNeal, Miss Texas Jr.Teen!
How you can help
Collect and send one or more school supply items or children’s books. The NAM national office in Houston, Texas is serving as a central collection and distribution site. We will receive, organize, and distribute all items received to Houston area schools, shelters and children in need.
Check back for updates to this page. You will see photos and news of the donations as they make a difference in the lives of those in need!
Here’s what to do. It’s as easy as 1, 2 3!
1)      Collect the item(s) that you want to donate.
2)      Complete the online submission form. Please note that there is no request for a credit card nor money. The online form is just to let us have an idea of what you are sending.

Q & A

Q: Where do I send donations?
A: Please send all items to:
NAMserves
5821 W Sam Houston Pkwy N, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77041
Phone: 281-496-9000

That is the address of the National American Miss national office. The office is open during regular office hours, Monday through Friday. All major delivery services deliver each weekday to the office. Examples include, but are not limited to, the US Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. The immediate area in which the National American Miss office is located was completely spared of flooding. The office is located on a major highway and all deliveries are back to normal.

Q: Do I need to notify anyone that I am sending donated items, or do I need to include anything in the box(es)?
A: When you are ready to send donated items, please complete this online submission form. You will immediately receive a reply email from our system. Please print out the reply email and include a copy of it in each envelope, pack or box that you are sending.
Please note that there is no request in the online form for a credit card. There are no monetary donations involved in this project.
When you complete the online submission form we are instantly notified. Through the form, you are giving us an idea of what items you are sending. That advance notice will help us speedily get the items received, organized and placed with the school, shelter, or other recipient that is most in need of the items that you are sending.
You do not need to submit a different online submission form for each envelope, pack or box. Just include a printed copy of your one email auto-confirmation in each package that you send.

Q: What items are appropriate to donate?
A: There are two categories of items for this project: School Supplies and Children’s Books. If you have items that fit in any way into those categories, that are in new or good condition, then that is exactly what we are looking for.
School Supplies. Examples include: Pencils, pens, crayons, erasers, hand sanitizer, backpacks, markers, colored pencils, rulers, folders, scissors, dry erase markers, spiral notebooks, composition books, art supplies, craft supplies, tissues, permanent markers, tape, glue sticks, pencil boxes, binders, pocket folders, index cards, board games, flash cards, staplers, and loose leaf paper. There may be other items that you may feel would be helpful. If an item is normally used in a classroom, then it is needed.
Children’s Books: All grade levels of books are needed. Pre-K through 12th grade.

Q: Is there a minimum, or maximum, of donated items that I should send?
A: There is no minimum. One item is as meaningful as a hundred.
Every single pencil and item is needed. Many schools in the area are completely wiped clean of all supplies and books. Whatever you feel led to send is just right
As for a maximum, there is no maximum. We do ask that you email us (NAMserves@gmail.com), prior to shipping, if you have a shipment that exceeds the volume of what would fit in a normal pickup truck. For some of the large scale shipments, we may coordinate that the shipment go directly to the appropriate school or school district building.
The NAM office has more than 5,000 square feet of warehouse space, a pallet jack, and a grade-level loading dock. Our facility was built for serving NAM events, including the shipment of large audio-visual devices and a host of supplies to the pageants. We feel blessed to use these resources for this vital project. Our staff is eager to get to the work of receiving and distributing your donations.

Q: Can I collect items at my school, place of worship, from family, friends, or other places?
A: Absolutely! Be creative! If you decide to set up a table, for example, we recommend that you make a bold clear sign that boldly posts these words

DISASTER RELIEF PROJECT
Please donate school supplies and children’s books
All donated items will be sent to Houston

That really says it all. At a glance, folks will know what to do. As always, you should get permission from your parent or guardian, as well as the appropriate authority. For example, if you would like to include your classroom in the collection effort, then you must receive permission from your teacher.
Ideas include a table at your street corner (be safe!), in front of an office supply store, or in front of a book store. It is up to you and your imagination! Always work closely with your parent or guardian on this project. And get permission from the school, store, or appropriate authority if you set up on their property.

Q: Can I send food, clothing, or monetary donations to the NAMserves project?
A: Please do not send these items, they are beyond the scope of this project. If you would like to donate money for flood relief, we recommend the JJ Watt Houston Flood Relief Fund (http://jjwfoundation.org)

Q: Do I have to be a participant in NAM to participate in this project?
A: Anyone and everyone is invited to participate in this worthy project. The goal is that through this project a total of $25,000 in school supplies and children’s books are distributed. It will take an army of people across the country working together to achieve this goal. YOU are in the lead!

Q: What is the deadline?
A: We ask that donated items be sent by Wednesday, October 4. Normally, all Houston area schools are in session by Labor Day at the latest. This is back to school time! Classrooms full of children need our help now.

Q: Is it OK for me to just go online and order school supplies or books to be sent directly to the NAMserves project?
A: Yes, that works great. And there are a number of websites that offer free shipping. Plus, at this time of year, there are many specials on back-to-school supplies. If you do send items this way, please still complete the online submission form so that we will stay organized and be aware of what is being sent.

Q: Can I send donated items more than one time?
A: Absolutely! There is no need for you to send everything at once. As you have collected one or more items, please feel free to send them as you can. We ask that you do fill out a different online submission form for each time you send something.

Q: If I am a participant in this year’s national pageant activities in California, can I use my collection efforts toward my NAM Community Service project requirement?
A: Absolutely! When you fill in and submit your online submission form, you will automatically receive a confirmation email directly from NAM. That will serve as your documentation.
