NAM: What are your plans for the future?
A really big goal of mine is to be a broadcast journalist. I have dreamed of being on Good Morning America, or even the Today show!

NAM: How would your friends describe you?
I would think they would say that I am a good friend who if funny,
smart, caring about others.

NAM: What motto or quote best describes you?
The best quote that describes me, and is also my favorite quote, is by Abraham Lincoln: “ Whatever you are, be a good one.” The reason this quote describes me is because everything that I achieve to do, I always try to push myself farther and be the best I can be.

NAM: What is the best advice you have ever received?
The best advice I ever received would be to always be myself and to always try my best at whatever i try.

NAM: How did you prepare for the NAM National pageant?
For the months approaching NAM Nationals I was very excited. The first thing I did was find the perfect formal wear dress that expressed who I am. I also practiced interview questions with my friends and family.

NAM: Where is your favorite place to shop?
I love the clothes from American Eagle and shoes from DSW.

NAM: How have pageants shaped your life?
Pageants have taught me to never give up in everything that I do. I have been doing NAM since I was seven years old and I have learned new lessons every year. One lesson I always come back with is that I'm not going to win every single pageant I do, and I think that thats a good thing. It teaches me that I'm not always going to get the job I applied for, and that I'm not always going to get a 100% on a test. Pageants have taught me that working hard, and doing your best can pay off in the end. It takes a few tries to be the perfect you

NAM: What is your most prized possession?
Not a possession, but my family and pets are the most important things to me.

NAM: What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is “The Phantom of the Opera”, my dad introduced me to the movie at a young age and it's still one of my favorites! I even had the opportunity to see it on Broadway; which was a big dream come true.

NAM: What is your favorite TV show?
Mr Robot, the acting and storylines are amazing. It's a show that really engages my mind when I watch it.

NAM: What is your book?
The Great Gatsby, the glitz and glamor of the 1920s fascinates me.

NAM: What advice do you have for future NAM girls?
I want all NAM girls, present and future, to know that everything that you set your mind to, you can achieve. You are not always going to win on your first try, it takes time, practice, and motivation to achieve even the smallest of goals. I have been competing in NAM since I was seven years old, so I understand that it takes time; but as long as you never give up on your dreams you can achieve anything.

NAM: If you could be famous for anything what would it be?
I would love to invent or create something that would totally change everyone’s day to day life.

NAM: What is your dream job?
To be the cohost of the TODAY Show and be counted in the ranks of Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, and Matt Lauer

NAM: How do you plan to use your title?
To bring attention to the NAM organization to help girls gain confidence and life skills. I also hope to show others my age that even as teenagers we can make a difference in the world.

NAM: How do you volunteer in your community?
In my community I volunteer at my local community outreach program, where we help families in need. I volunteer at coat drives, school supplies distributions, Toy drive, Easter basket distributions and more. In the spring and summer my family and I volunteer at fundraising 5k’s by handing out waters to the runners. During the holidays my friends and family visit patients at nursing homes and deliver them presents for the Holiday.

NAM: What is your most embarrassing moment?
One of my most embarrassing moments was freshman year when I slipped and fell down the stairs and everyone saw me. That will teach me not to carry every single binder and book with me; and not to wear slippery shoes, lol.

NAM: What is your favorite subject in school?
My favorite class this year is anatomy. Its very interesting and has the perfect level of challenge. I love doing all the labs and being able to dissect and learn about a wide range of organisms.

I have always been afraid of spiders. They creep me out!

NAM: What is the biggest misconception about your generation?
That we all want things to come to us easily. We are not afraid to buckle down to get the work done.

NAM: Who is your role model?
Someone who has always been a role model to me is Emma Watson. I have always loved her since the Harry Potter movie series, but she is much more than an actress waving a wand.  Recently she was a part of a movement that hid books in subway stations for people to find and read, I thought that was really unique and inspiring.

NAM: If you could go back in time to any historical event what would it be?
Either to be in the moon when Apollo 11 landed or to be first in line on the opening day of Disneyland.

NAM: Who is to most influential person in the world?

NAM: Tell us about yourself:
MaKenzie: Hi! I’m MaKenzie Ward, National American Miss Jr. Teen. I
am a 14 year old freshman at Hewitt Trussville High School in
Trussville, Alabama. I love to sing, dance, shop, and cook! I have a
family of four: my mom, dad, and older sister, Madison. We have two
small dogs named Tucker and Trudy.

NAM: What activities are you involved in?
MaKenzie: I am very involved in school and church activities. I am on
my school danceline, the Hewitt Trussville Highsteppers. We dance at
football games and we also compete. My parents and sister are a part
of the worship team at my church and I am following in their footsteps.
I am in Spark Ministry training where I am training to be a worship
leader.

NAM: What are your plans for the future?
MaKenzie: I am undecided on my career path right now, but I am
leaning toward becoming an orthodontist. I’ve always been fascinated
by braces and the transformation they make. One thing I know for sure
is that I plan to fulfill my calling as a worship leader.

NAM: How would your friends describe you?
MaKenzie: My friends would say I’m outgoing and talkative. I never
meet a stranger and I love talking to people! I think they would say
that I am trustworthy and loyal. Many of my friends come to me for
advice or just to listen when they need me. They would also say that I
am funny...maybe even goofy. I love to laugh and make others laugh.

NAM: What motto or quote best describes you?
MaKenzie: “Humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand, that He may
lift you up in due time” 1 Peter 5:6 Before capturing the national title, I
had been first runner up five times throughout my NAM journey. I was
honored to have placed, and very thankful, but it was hard to get that
close so many times and I was tempted to give up. Through this
experience, I learned to trust God and His timing and to continue
working hard to become better each time I came back. I am so thankful
that I never gave up!

NAM: What is the best advice you have ever received?
MaKenzie: Pray first. Let prayer be your first response, not your last
resort. It’s simple: before anything else, pray. Just knowing that God
wants to hear from me and talk to me about anything and everything
going on in my life is so humbling and brings me so much peace.

NAM: How did you prepare for the NAM National pageant?
MaKenzie: My goal was to prepare spirit, soul, and body. I read the
Word and found encouragement to be bold, walk in love, and put forth
my best effort. Of course, I practiced my personal introduction
countless times and walked in my dress and shoes. My family
interviewed me every chance we got--even late at night after dance
practice. I also worked out and ate healthy so I would be my best for
competition week.

NAM: Where is your favorite place to shop?
MaKenzie: I really love trendy boutiques. There is one in my
hometown that I go to for clothes, jewelry, and gifts. Another favorite is
“Charming Charlie”, a store of jewelry and accessories that are
organized by color. I like organization, so I really love that store!

NAM: How have pageants shaped your life?
MaKenzie: Through pageantry, I have become more confident, made
so many new friends, and become more involved in my community. I
have overcome shyness and fear of public speaking. Pageantry has
taught me so much and made me a better version of myself.

NAM: What is your most prized possession?
MaKenzie: My Bible is definitely my most prized possession. Reading
the Word of God is so important in my walk with the Lord and in
getting wisdom needed for life.

NAM: What is your favorite TV show?
MaKenzie: “Dancing with the Stars” is my favorite show. I’m a dancer,
so I love watching the dancers’ technique and the choreography is so
creative! Last year, my parents surprised me with a VIP pass for the
“Dancing with the Stars” tour and I had the opportunity to meet the
cast. That was, by far, one of the best Christmas gifts I’ve ever received!

NAM: What is your book?
MaKenzie: I love the book of Proverbs (in the Bible). It is the book of
wisdom. There are thirty one chapters in the book of Proverbs and my
parents taught me to read one each day (two on the last day if there
are only thirty days in the month), and by the end of the month, you’ve
read the whole book. I have learned so much from it!

NAM: What advice do you have for future NAM girls?
MaKenzie: My advice is to GO FOR IT! Stretch yourself, grow and walk
into pageant weekend with a positive attitude. Do your best, have fun,
and give it to God. One girl will receive a crown, but everyone can win
new friends, make memories, and continue to grow. So, make as many
friends as you can, stay true to yourself, and be satisfied with simply
doing your best!

NAM: If you could be famous for anything what would it be?
MaKenzie: I would be a famous worship leader like Kari Jobe. She is
such an inspiration to me.

NAM: What is your dream job?
MaKenzie: I have my dream job! Becoming National American Miss Jr.
Teen is a dream come true! Being able to represent a group of amazing
girls from all across the country, serve my community, and be a role
model to others--I couldn’t ask for a better job! I’m so thankful.

NAM: How do you plan to use your title?
MaKenzie: I will represent National American Miss with humility and
grace and encourage girls from all over the country to dream big and
never give up! I plan to promote National American Miss by sharing
my testimony, and promote my platform on a national level and raise
more money for pediatric cancer research. In a nutshell, my goal is to
let the light within me shine brighter than the light that’s on me. I want
to serve others, make a difference, and leave a legacy.

NAM: How do you volunteer in your community?
MaKenzie: I have been a member of Dancers Fighting Cancer for eight
years. We have raised over $250,000.00 for pediatric cancer research. I
am a volunteer for Relay for Life and Children’s Miracle Network as
well. I also enjoy reading to elementary school classes and visiting
local nursing homes.

NAM: What is your favorite subject in school?
MaKenzie: Spanish is my favorite subject in school. I’m in my second
year of Spanish and I would love to become fluent in it. FUN FACT: I
love listening to Latin music!

MaKenzie: 1. A cure for cancer
2. For girls to be confident in who God made them to be
3. For everyone to discover their purpose and live it out

NAM: What is your biggest fear?
MaKenzie: Although I love the beach, my biggest fear is sharks...or any
big ocean creature!

NAM: Who is to most influential person in the world?
MaKenzie: Jesus. He is the Son of God who came to earth to die for our
sins. He rose again and saved us. That’s influence!

NAM: If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?
MaKenzie: I would love to have dinner with Sadie Robertson. She is a
great Christian role model. She stays true to her values and loves her
family. I think we would have a lot to talk about. She has had so many
great experiences from Duck Dynasty, Dancing with the Stars, writing a
book, public speaking and being a Sherri Hill model. I would want to
hear every detail!

NAM: What is your favorite part about National American Miss?
MaKenzie: I love that NAM empowers girls to be who they are and that
everyone doesn’t have to fit into a certain “mold”. National American
Miss is for everyone-- no matter the size, shape, or color. I love how it
helps girls, like me, transform from a shy girl to a confident young lady.
National American Miss challenges you to be better-- all while having
fun and making unforgettable memories!

NAM: How did you get started with NAM? How long have you been
involved?
MaKenzie: My sister received a postcard in 2006. She competed and
had a blast. That inspired me to compete in 2008. So, I’ve been around
NAM for 10 years, competing 8 of those years.

NAM: What do you like to do for fun?
MaKenzie: I like to cook with my mom and my sister. I also LOVE
shopping. In the summertime, my favorite activity is swimming with
my friends.

MaKenzie: I love my home state, Sweet Home Alabama! I think my
state is unique because we have the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in
Huntsville, a museum with rockets and artifacts of the U.S. space
program. We also have some of the most beautiful white sandy
beaches on the Gulf!

NAM: What is your favorite food?
MaKenzie: My mom’s red beans and rice is my favorite food. I love all

me he always being funny and acting crazy before I walk out on the
stage.

NAM: What was your first thought you had when you captured your
national title?
MaKenzie: I’m pretty sure I was in shock! I had to make sure I wasn’t
dreaming. The very first thought I had was ‘this is a dream’. Once I
realized that I wasn’t dreaming, I could NOT compose myself. I cried so
hard. I just thanked God over and over for this amazing opportunity.

Serene Singh, a University of Colorado junior majoring in political science and journalism and minoring in leadership studies, has won a prestigious Truman Scholarship, an honor that brings with it up to $30,000 for graduate study, priority admission at graduate institutions and intensive leadership training for careers in public service.
Serene SinghSingh, who is from Colorado Springs, is CU Boulder’s 11th recipient of the scholarship and first since 2014. Singh is identified as the first NAM or pageant competitor, in general, to have won this prestigious scholarship.
The 59 new Truman Scholars were selected from among 756 candidates nominated by 311 colleges and universities. Recipients were chosen on the basis of their academic and leadership accomplishments and their likelihood of becoming public service leaders.
"Serene brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to our campus and beyond. She engages in remarkable community service, has extensive leadership experience and maintains sharp academic focus all at once," said Deborah Viles, director of CU Boulder’s Office of Top Scholarships.
"She's already shown herself to be a change-maker, and the Truman Scholarship will help broaden her influence. I'm proud to have her represent CU as a Truman Scholar, and I'm looking forward to seeing where her path takes her."
Singh is a member of numerous groups and organizations on campus, including the Boettcher Scholars, Presidents Leadership Class, Colorado Bhangra, Political Science Honor Society and University of Colorado Student Government, where she serves as Chief Justice of the CU Supreme Court, or the Judicial Branch.
Singh started National American Miss in 2013 and has continued ever since. She says the program has "changed her life in the best way possible." She is excited and honored to be the first NAM girl to win the Truman Scholarship.
Singh, as the NAM former Miss Boulder as well as Miss Colorado Teen titleholder, started a nonprofit called The Serenity Project to offer an experience aimed at growing confidence and self-esteem for at-risk and marginalized communities of women. She hopes the project will empower participants to find their voices and focus their energy on causes they believe in.
She also works with women in The Serenity Project on speaking skills and coaches middle school and high school students for Speech and Debate in economically depressed regions, as well as students from low-income backgrounds across the country.
Outside of school work, Singh is active in the Sikh-American community. She started the first Sikh Student Association in Colorado and is working on an honors thesis in addition to policy that will help protect Sikhs in the United States from hate crimes. Annually, Singh organizes a camp for young students to learn Punjabi Indian dance and challenge their stereotypes surrounding South Asians and Sikhs in America.
Singh also has interned with the U.S. Senate, the Sikh American Legal Defense Education Fund and Opportunity Nation to further explore her interests in areas such as First Amendment rights, justice and tolerance.
Singh said of the award:

"I am incredibly honored and humbled to have received the Truman Scholarship, which is nationally known for its competitive nature and its strong desire to invest in our nation's most promising change-makers and leaders. I feel truly fortunate to have been selected amongst thousands of students.
This scholarship and the people I have met from this journey have changed my life in the best ways possible—I thank each and every one of them for their love and support in this rigorous process. National American Miss has helped me become a stronger leader, more engaged presenter, and a better person. Thank you NAM and all my NAMily for helping me see the changes I want to make in the world and giving me the tools to go out and see out those changes. I cannot wait for more opportunities to learn, grow and give back to my incredible community, state and country.”
Recently, Singh was also awarded various prestigious awards on campus including the Equity and Excellence Undergraduate of the Year, Inclusive Advocate of the Year, and the James E. Schaffer Leadership Award.
Singh aspires to one day be appointed to the United States Supreme Court.
Congress established the Truman Scholarship Foundation in 1975 as the federal memorial to President Harry S. Truman. The foundation awards scholarships for college students to attend graduate school in preparation for careers in government or elsewhere in public service. The activities of the foundation are supported by a special trust fund in the U.S. Treasury.

Dear State Finalists,
Congratulations on making it to the State Pageant Finals! You are going to have the time of your life making new friends, learning new skills and showing off all your hard work!

My favorite experiences were giving back to the community by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald home, working with the Open-Door Mission, Miss Amazing Organization and helping the Sunshine Kids Cancer Foundation with magical moments.  I loved representing the crown at different Nebraska Parades as a true Queen and enjoyed having the best pageant dad ever as my chauffeur! I have cherished time with my sister queens whether it was being royalty at other pageants, road tripping together for sponsored photo shoots or being recognized at community events!

Special Thanks to my sisters, Tarisa & Tendra, who are the best supporters a girl could ask for!  Grateful for my mom who always makes sure my outfits, attitude and curls are always on point.  I’m fortunate to have the best grandparents who are always there to cheer me on! A huge hug and thanks goes out to my state directors, Breanne & Ryan Ewing, as I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for you. You have inspired me to chase my dreams, be myself & go after it! Now, I stand here today and can honestly say to DREAM BIG because DREAMS DO COME TRUE. Live life with intention! #Namily #Growingconfidence

Wow!  What a year it has been! Congratulations to you all! I know how much time and hard work you and your parents have put into just being here! Be sure to thank those that have helped you! I remember arriving last year and being so excited to meet new friends, get on the stage and do MY best! Who knew that I would be lucky enough to walk away with the crown!  My year started right away with appearances at the Ronald McDonald House, Open Door Mission and various other organizations throughout Nebraska. My absolute favorite appearance was cooking dinner at the Ronald McDonald House with my sister queens for the families staying there. I received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for the work that I have done in my community, and that makes me happy to know that a 10 year old can make a difference! Nationals was an absolute blast!  Disneyland, fun themed rehearsals and competing on the national stage were all such amazing experiences. Being crowned the National Casual Wear Award winner was such an honor. Holding the title Miss Nebraska Jr. Pre-Teen 2017 has truly been life changing! Enjoy the moments, meet new friends and most of all HAVE A BLAST! I wish you all the best! I know there is only one crown, but don’t make this weekend about the crown, make it about being the best YOU you can be! Much Love, Lennon

This past year has been amazing. I have participated in Autism Walks, Domestic Violence walks, read to students, parades, and showed support for my hometown after tragedy struck. Being the state queen for Nevada has been an experience of a lifetime. I have made new friends, learned from my experiences, and become very confident in who I am, myself and my choices. I think the best part was the little girls at the parade excited to see the “Princess”. My message to you is be yourself and be confident in who you are as a girl. Shine as bright as you can, and never let anyone dull that sparkle. Have a great time this weekend! Good luck!

One of my biggest dreams came true a year ago when I was crowned your 2017 Miss Nebraska Jr teen.  I knew the moment my name was called I wanted my year to be marked by serving others, working hard and most importantly making memories to last a lifetime.  This year has been nothing short of amazing. Volunteering with the Down Syndrome Alliance, MDA Walk, the Open Door Mission, Miss Amazing organization, the Serenity Project, and riding in the 4th of July parade was a great start to my year.  I also went on a summer tour, traveling over 5,000 miles across the country as visiting royalty.  I made stops in Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, and Iowa.  But let’s not forget about my favorite stop, the national pageant in sunny California.  I met girls from all over the country and had a blast getting to know them at the themed rehearsals.  I also enjoyed Disneyland, visiting the beach, and spending time with family at the thanksgiving banquet. Competing on the national stage was incredible. At the pink carpet awards I was honored to place top 10 in casual wear and 3rd runner up in most promising model.  However, the highlight of the trip was hearing my name called as 2nd runner up in the nation.
This weekend will be an unforgettable experience, don’t waste a second, live life with gratitude and remember a smile is the best makeup any girl can wear!  Wishing you the Best of Luck!

Hannah DeLashmutt

It was an honor to be crowned your 2017 National American Miss Florida Jr. Pre -Teen.
I began this amazing journey by volunteering for The Brendan Franco Foundation, an organization that means so much to me. We raised over $10,000 for childhood cancer research.
I participated in the annual Buddy Walk, and spent time cleaning the beautiful Florida beaches.
Then, off to Nationals in Anaheim, California. Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, and sharing it with Namily made me even happier. I loved our themed rehearsals, and all of the memories gained with my new and old friends. The ice cream party with all of my Florida Jr. Pre -Teen sister queens was a memory I will cherish.
I was also reunited with my LA bestie Karisma, who came to support me. Every blonde needs a brunette best friend.
At nationals, I earned The Heart of Service award. I was also voted on by the other Jr. Pre-Teen contestants for a Miss Personality award. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls to spend that amazing week with.
It was truly an honor to walk away with the coveted 2017-2018 National American Miss Jr. Pre-Teen National title. I truly believe God granted me this opportunity to make a difference, and I plan to use this title to do just that.
There many FLAWSOME mentors to thank. To the NAM staff and Mr. and Mrs. Mayes, thank you for creating a pageant system that instills confidence. So many girls have gained so many life skills through all of your hard work and dedication.
Thank you to Lasting Impressions, Mr. Jeremey, Mr. Wes, Mrs. Brittney, Mrs. Shana, Mrs. Lu, Torrie, and so many others that inspire, motivate, and encourage me.
Thank you to Landon for being the best escort, Mrs. Ashley, Mr. Will, and sweet Annie. I love you all very much.
Thank you to Mom, Dad, Rhylee, and the rest of my family for giving up countless hours to support me. I love all of you to Starbucks and back.
To my sister queens, you are all an inspiration to me, and truly represent the meaning of NAMily.
To all of the girls competing this week, embrace your flaws, and know that you are awesome regardless. You are all FLAWSOME.
To my successor... GRACE and GRATITUDE change everything. Remember that, and you will move mountains.
I am your 2017 National American Miss Florida Jr. Pre-Teen, Jaycee Grace Parker.

Being a first time pageant winner, I had no idea what to expect when I won NAM Junior Pre-Teen Nevada-Utah 2017. I never imagined it would be as exciting  as it has been and all of the amazing opportunities I have had. Since becoming queen, I have met so many important people in my hometown community of Las Vegas, Nevada. From first responders to community leaders to the many wonderful volunteers here in Las Vegas. I have meet so many amazing people and it has taught me so much about my community and I am so proud to be a Nevadan. I have also had the opportunity to work with some amazing charity organizations, including Operation Christmas Child, Make-A-Wish and the Ronald McDonald House. But my favorite time has been spent helping homeless pets with the Farmanity Project. I want to continue to be an advocate for homeless pets long after my title is gone and hope to make a difference in this growing problem someday. In addition to the wonderful community opportunities, I have also made wonderful friends and made many memories with the smart, talented and confidant girls that are a part of the NAM Namily. To my successor, get ready to start an amazing journey where you will make lasting memories and gain a whole other family! Thank you to the NAM Organization, to the Ewings and to my wonderful sister queens. I love you all!

What an Awesome Year for The 2017 Miss Texas Princess!

Wow! I cannot believe my year as 2017 Miss South Texas Princess is coming to an end.  It is hard to believe that one year ago I was standing on the stage smiling big when I heard my name called and the crown was placed on my head.  I was so happy that I had tears running down my face. I have had the most amazing year filled with new experiences. I made incredible memories that I will never forgot.
Not long after winning, my hometown was flooded by Hurricane Harvey.  My house was one of the only houses in my neighborhood that did not flood.  It was so sad seeing all my friends and neighbors working hard in their homes tearing out everything the water damaged.  I wanted to help, so I put together some snack bags.  I brought many smiles and tears to faces as I delivered snacks and drinks to people working in their homes.
A few short months later my Mom, Nana and I were on plane flying to California to represent my great state of Texas at the national pageant.  I had no idea how many new friends and memories I would make.  I had so much fun at all the themed rehearsals and parties. I was honored to win a spirit stick at one of the rehearsals along with my new pageant BFF, Bailey. I will never forget the Hollywood tour, beautiful California beach and Disneyland.
I am forever thankful to everyone who has made this year amazing.  To my Mom and Dad for always supporting me in everything I do and loving me with all your heart.  Nana and Pawpaw, I cannot believe that I am so lucky to have the best grandparents a girl could dream of.  I know it is not easy being a brother of a pageant girl, but I have to say my big brother Kylar, and little brother Kasen are my number one fans.  Mrs. Alexis has taught me so much and always makes sure I am perfect and ready to hit the stage.  I cannot say enough kind words about the entire National American Miss staff.
This year has truly been life changing and beyond amazing.  I have created new friendships thru National American Miss that will last a lifetime.  I am truly blessed to call these girls my sister queens.  I have gained self confidence and respect for others thru this experience.  It has helped shape me into a loving and caring young lady, one who is ready to make a positive difference in this world.
Hugs and Kisses from your 2017 Miss South Texas Princess, Kynlee Vasquez.

Dreams Really Do Come True

One year ago, I was crowned your 2017 National American Miss Texas Jr. Pre-Teen. My dream of becoming Texas Royalty had come true.  It was amazing!

Today, I welcome you and say, congratulations on becoming a State Finalist!  You’re already a winner!  I’m sure you are feeling a bit nervous about competing and that’s okay.  Once you arrive, the butterflies will slow down!  I promise!  Right from the start you will see that everyone is so very friendly and helpful.

NAM encourages every girl to set personal goals and provides support for you to achieve your goals.  You will enjoy every rehearsal and your confidence will grow. The message that you will hear most during pageant weekend is, Have fun and make friends! Be sure to make a lot of memories, take a lot of pictures and know that the friendships that you make can last a lifetime.

This is your moment to shine!  Be confident! Take hold of this opportunity, show yourself and just be you!  Never give up!  I’m glad I didn’t.

In November, I attended the National Pageant in Anaheim, CA and I ranked Top 10 in the Nation.  It was an experience of a lifetime. I enjoyed Disneyland with my sisters from all around the nation and sharing Thanksgiving dinner with my NAMily.

Being your Miss Texas has been a blessing and in return, I have been able to bless others.  Immediately after being crowned, I got straight to work with my program, Super Smiles with Mya and Charlie - teaching parents and children about good oral hygiene with my puppet, Charlie. Most recently, I presented to more than 80 students at the Boys and Girls Club.

During my reign, Texas experienced the effects of Hurricane Harvey. I helped to collect $87K worth of gift cards and cases of water - enough to fill more than 5 semi-trucks! I also volunteered with Faith Runs Deep 5K, to raise funds for evacuees and collected school supplies for NAMserves ReliefProject.

My friends and I supported Samaritan’s Purse by packing Christmas shoeboxes for children. I assisted Agora Ministries by going door-to-door to reach families and helped set-up 20K Easter eggs! I represented NAM in many parades, including: Poteet Texas Strawberry Festival Parade, City of Helotes Lighted Christmas Parade and the King William Parade - celebrating San Antonio’s Tri-Centennial and Fiesta.

During the 2018 open-calls and training, I was able to inspire more than 400 girls and families.  I am so very thankful that NAM gave me this opportunity.

This is the moment where this chapter ends but it is just the beginning of the next. I know you will have lots of fun.  Make this moment special because it is your time to Shine!

Signing off,

Your 2017 Miss Texas Jr. Pre-Teen, Mya Blondell Johnson

Wow what a year!  When I walked into registration a year ago I had BIG dreams of becoming Miss Indiana but I knew no matter what the outcome I was about to begin a weekend filled of fun and new friends.
While I was definitely surprised and excited to be crowned Miss Indiana Princess what I have loved the most is servicing my community, making new friends and spending time with my sister queens.
My sister queens and I cheered on participants at a cancer walk and we served dinner at the Ronald McDonald House.  I enjoyed collecting school supplies to send to the hurricane victims because I know school is very important and I wanted all of the kids to be able to get back to school as soon as possible.  It made me realize that even at a young age I can do big things!
Nationals were AMAZING and I love Disneyland!  I had a great week with my NAMily and got to meet so many more sister queens.  The entire week was filled with fun and laughter, which made me forget the hard work!
I am so blessed to have served as Miss Indiana over the last year, it has gone by so quickly.  I know that you all have worked very hard to get to state so no matter what, do your best and have a great time.  Make new friends and make amazing memories with you family.
I wish you the best and always remember, sometimes you need to do what you are afraid to do!
Much Love, Mallory Lynne McCool
