One of my biggest achievements became a reality one year ago when I was crowned your 2017 New Jersey Jr. Teen. I realized soon after the initial wave of shock and joy that I had a job to do and some big shoes to fill. I was able to volunteer with the Angels Community Outreach, my local public library, and I even had the honor of returning to my old preschool and reading to the little kids. I was also able to make various appearances as I prepared for nationals. At nationals, I truly experienced my definition of NAMily for the very first time. Being able to compete on the beautiful national stage with girls I considered family was an experience I will never forget. However, the highlight of my reign didn’t come until after nationals. Having a newly crowned national queen living 20 minutes away from your house is kind’ve a big deal. Long story short, volunteering with you has been truly amazing Raven, and I will forever cherish the time that we spent together. Together, Raven and I were able to volunteer with Loaves and Fishes, the Miss Next Level Youth pageant, Choices of the Heart, and many more!

I can honestly say my reign was a truly an forgettable experience and I wouldn’t change a single thing. Don’t take anything for granted because we all have so much to give. Live with gratitude and live boldly!

Love,
Your 2017 New Jersey Jr. Teen

Dear Contestants,

This year has been an unforgettable year.
Being the 2017 National American Miss Florida Jr Teen has been such a blessing. During my year of service many opportunities were presented to me. I was able to give back to my community in so many different ways. I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer at many different nonprofit organizations, such as Ronald Mc Donald House, my local food pantry, performing at my different events, and most importantly volunteering at the numerous hospitals to help raise awareness for children like myself who are diagnosed with scoliosis. Then it was time for National in Hollywood California. Nationals was more then I could ever imagine. Going to Disneyland, visiting the fame streets Hollywood was an amazing experience. To my mom and dad  thank you so much for all the love and for always believing in me. I love you both so much.
To Mr & Mrs Mayes thank you for developing an organization that transforms lives and inspires girls from across the country. To the entire NAM staff thank you so much for all you do. I love you all so much.
To all the contestants good luck remember this your time to shine so have fun, take lots of pictures and remember to always be yourself. I can’t wait to meet all of you during pageant weekend.
                                                Love always,
Your 2017 Miss Florida

What an amazing year it has been!!! Last year when I was crowned as the Miss Florida Princess I was so incredibly happy! I had no idea what was in store for me as I headed to Hollywood, CA!

There, I met so many new friends! My best friend that week, Miss South Texas Princess and I spent every minute together we could! We even won the spirit stick together the same day! It was perfect!!!

I competed in optionals and was so excited to win the national talent and national actress titles! I love singing and acting so much! I also placed 1st runner up in casual wear! I simply couldn’t believe it and I was so incredibly proud!

I couldn’t believe it when they called my name in the top 10 and then in the top 5! I was so incredibly excited!! During the finale, my mom was laughing so hard at my dancing. I was having so much fun. I was so nervous when it was down to the final two and then my dreams came true as they called my name as the new National American Miss Princess! What an amazing honor.

Thank you National American Miss for helping my dreams come true. I am forever grateful to be your Miss Florida Princess and National American Miss Princess, Bailey Sheridan.

Hello! I’m Holland Hartpence and I’m proud to be your 2018 Miss California Princess! Although I’m only 7-years-old, this year has been filled with memories to last a lifetime. I’ve grown so much, having gained experience and confidence. I’ve been blessed to be able to represent the crown at many community events, attended local parades, coordinated a blanket drive for my local animal shelter and met my State Assemblyman and received a certificate for service.

Attending NAM Nationals was the best experience! I met friends from around the country and am traveling to New York this Fall to meet with my sister queen, Raelynn, and model in “New York Fashion Week” together! Talk about a Sisterhood! I was thrilled to place Top 10 in the Nation and go home with “National Casual Wear,” “National Model,” and my absolute favorite, “Miss Personality!” Thank you to my State Queens for giving me this exceptional honor.

I’ve been blessed with the best big sister queens and their moms- all wonderful role models for me to look up too. Team California had the best year together and I had a blast spending Thanksgiving with my NAMily.

Thank you the NAM Staff and Directors for giving girls like me the opportunity to grow, learn and be the best person I can be.

Last but not least, I’m grateful for my family who love and support me. Mom and Dad, I love you so much! Hayden, you are my #1 Fan and Hensley, my #1 Cheerleader. Grammy, Grandpa and Kaitlyn, you are always there and help me shine! I love my Tribe.

For the State Finalists, I wish you the best of luck on your new adventure. And always remember,

“When the pageant is through and lights are turned down,
You’ll know you’re a winner and you’ll have the crown.
You see, all crowns are made different, it’s really an art.
Yours can be rhinestones or the growth of your heart.”

Don't forget to wear your invisible crown!

Yours truly,
Holland Hartpence

his year has been nothing short of amazing. When my name was called as your 2017 National American Miss Jr pre-teen I knew after four years of competing all of my hard work paid off.

After I was crowned I started right away working on my year of service. During my reign I had the opportunity to do lots of volunteer work and appearances. I work with some amazing organizations such as Feed My Starving Children, Berwyn Park District, Share our Spare, Ronald McDonald House,  The Salvation Army, Marleigh Ministries, Housing forward and collected school supplies for hurricane disaster relief.

My favorite place to volunteer was Marleigh Ministries. This organization provide care packages to parents of preemies in the NICU all over the world. During this time my sister queens and I really got a chance to know each other. Together we made 60 blankets and  many wonderful memories.

I was truly blessed to represent my state at Nationals in California those memories I will cherish forever. Spending time with all my sister queens from so many states was so much fun.  The themed rehearsals where I won the Coveted spirit stick, the day at Disney, the Hollywood tour and the 15th birthday party was a blast.

It has been a honor and a privilege to represent an amazing system and  the great state of Illinois. National American Miss allows girls to be themselves while growing  confidence and developing great speaking skills. Thank you National American Miss for showing girls that they are amazing and don't have to change because you're beautiful just the way you are.

To all the wonderful hard working contestant have fun make friends and remember all things are possible if you believe.

My year with National American Miss has truly been a blessing and
the opportunities I was given this past year have been inspiring and up
lifting. As I prepare to end this chapter in my life, I am excited for what
is to come for the new Texas Jr. Teen. Through the past five years of
being involved with NAM, I have learned a lot about myself. Coming in
as a shy nine year old, I can gladly say I am a confident young woman
who is changing the world. NAM has given me a title and the exposure
to share my anti-bullying platform “Uniqueness is Never a Weakness”.
I have worked with special needs groups at “Rays of Light” and
spoken to girls about worth and self confidence.
To the contestants, make the most of this weekend, it’s over way too
soon! Have fun and make many new friends because they will last a
lifetime. To my successor, make the most of your year because in the
blink of an eye you will be just like me, giving up your title. I can’t
thank the NAM staff enough for always making me feel like royalty.
Although this is a very bittersweet moment, I’m excited to see what’s
next for me. Good luck to everyone this weekend!
Forever Namily,
Haleigh Ryan Hurst

My mom says that little girls with dreams become women with vision, and I am well on my way!  This year as National American Miss Illinois Princess has been unforgettable!  I have grown in my confidence, I have learned to give as often as I can, and that with hard work- dreams really do come true!

Throughout the year, I have been honored to work with children with Down Syndrome at Gigi’s Playhouse.  It’s so important to spread kindness and help all kids to feel accepted.

I’ve also had the opportunity to compete at Nationals, pack meals at Feed My Starving Children, make blankets for preemie babies, hand make cards for the homeless, ride in the Pumpkin Festival parade, help as NAM Visiting Royalty, volunteer with Hurricane Harvey relief- and I was even blessed to have donated my pageant winnings to the American Red Cross and Gigi’s Playhouse.

My favorite memory of this year will be my first real interview with the Chicago Tribune Newspaper!   My mom bought several copies.

Special thank you to Steve and Kathleen Mayes for giving me this amazing experience.  Thank you Mary Swenson for coaching me- it’s all about confidence and poise!  To all of my sister queens, I love you and hope to be just like you one day!  Mom and dad- thank you for supporting my dreams- and to my brother Tyler, thanks for always being there to cheer me on.

To my successor: Be Yourself and have fun!  It will be an adventure of a lifetime!

If you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true. I am your 2017 National American Miss Illinois Princess, Ava Pokol.

Dearest NAMily,

It has been such an honor getting to reign as your 2017 Texas Jr. Teen Cover Girl . It's unbelievable to think that just one year ago I was a contestant hearing my name called to be crowned the new cover girl.I have enjoyed representing the title by doing community service with Mission Carthage,an organization in our town that helps people in need.

In November I attended Nationals! This was on of the best weeks of my life.I had a blast and met many new friends that I'm proud to call sister queens. I was also crowned the 2017 - 2018 Cover Model .

NAM also gave me the courage to start my own non profit organization called "All Paws on Deck". I love helping shelter dogs get things that they need.In May we hosted the milk carton campaign and donated all the money for Texas Star Rescue of Longview Texas.

I loved representing as Cover Girl in parades, in my community and being able to help with the Longview open call for National American Miss! I look forward to competing again!

To my parents, family and friends, thank you for your support and encouragement while I enjoy this journey!

To my successor, that crown is not just a crown. It's your ticket to change the world. Without NAM I would still be extremely shy. NAM has also taught me life skills as well because National American Miss is not just a pageant. Thanks for a wonderful year and good luck to all of the contestants this year !
                                                    Sincerely ,
                                                    Chandler Glaze

NAM has done so many amazing things for me, and for EVERYONE that joins this experience. Being surrounded by such real and determined girls that want to make a positive change has pushed me to be the best I can be. I didn’t know anything about pageants and I did not expect to make so many friends by the end of it. I would define NAM by its sisterhood. My sister queens have helped me through everything!! I’ve never been so close to a group of friends as I was with all the amazing girls I met at NAM, they’re more than my friends; they’re my NAMily!

Speaking of family, my mom and I bonded so much over the pageant. It reminded me of when I was four and we used to play makeover and fashion games. My dad loved it too! He was my escort and during the formal wear rehearsal he got to meet other dads and had such a great time. He made some good friends too! NAMily is more than just for the girl competing, it involves your family as well!

My favorite part about NAM was the growth I saw in myself. Before NAM, I wasn’t exactly the type to keep my head held high, I had trouble with self-confidence. I was scared that I would be surrounded by such amazing girls that I would feel insecure, but instead it opened up a whole new door. Now when I look in the mirror I smile, I am confident, I am beautiful, and I am proud of myself.

NAM taught me the true definition of beauty, it’s not about who wears the prettiest dress or most makeup… It’s about loving yourself for who you are and loving those who helped you get where you are today. National American Miss has a very special place in my heart and always will.

Always holding on to my dreams until they became a reality has been something that I have always done! I was delighted and blessed to be named the new National American Miss New York 2017 Queen. I was ready to embark on an amazing journey that was full of love, laughter, and joy. I spent time at my local Presbyterian Home with the activities Director Allison and the residents who were dear to my heart. Volunteering at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s/Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and visiting patients at ECMC hospital was an amazing experience! I was also granted the opportunity to speak to more than 700 prospective students and families about my experience at the University of Buffalo.
Nationals was a memory that I will always remember! The very first day we had a Neon Glow Party, and I won the dance off and received the NAM Glow Stick! Also, I got to meet all the other state queens and build friendships with them. I even got to visit some of the most exquisite sites in California such as Disneyland, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica Beach. Moreover, I was honored to receive the following awards: top 10 in the nation for Talent and Casual Wear, 3rd runner up for Fashion Model, and 1st runner up for Runway Model.
I wish all of you the best during pageant weekend. ALWAYS remember to BE YOU, be EXCITED about YOUR DREAMS you would like to accomplish, and SMILE with CONFIDENCE!
Warmest regards,

They say, "The best things come to those who wait." I waited three years to win my crown and it was worth the wait.

What an amazing year I have had representing NAM and my state and with so many memories it is really hard to choose the best ones.

After winning my crown, I began to learn about my state and I found out that we have the most lighthouses of any state with a total of 129! So I began a journey to visit as many as I could before my year was over. I got to see 46!

I traveled the entire perimeter of the the Lower Peninsula, several points in the middle, and a small part of the Upper Peninsula visiting lighthouses and meeting lots of new people. From the beautiful Tahquamenon Falls in Paradise, to the Soo Locks in Saulte St. Marie, to the Mackinaw bridge in Mackinac City, and the lightship in Port Huron, I learned we live in a truly beautiful state.

It was amazing to see and learn about all of the lighthouses and the stories behind them especially the haunted Pointe aux Barques lighthouse. But the coolest part of my journey was eating cheese almost THREE times my age in Pinconning! Yummy!!

Many doors opened to me for volunteering and I took those opportunities to bless others as I have been blessed. From the Walk to End Alzheimers in Lansing with my sister queens, to the Wings of Mercy 5K with my brother, to prepping supper sacks for the Kids Food Basket, and several other opportunities in between, I felt truly blessed to be able to make a difference.

I was invited to be in the Memorial Day parade in St Clair Shores and what an honor it was to be able to decorate my car with Thirty photos of those who had fallen and show them the honor and respect they deserved. I had the opportunity to be in three other parades, too many appearances to count, be visiting royalty, attend open calls in Indianapolis, and an awesome trip to Nationals where I won 4th runner up for Heart of Service, made new friends, and met up with old ones. I has definitely been a year to remember!

Thank you NAM for giving me this opportunity to represent my state and this great system that has helped and many other girls learn and grow. I hope I have served you well.

To my Dad who worked so hard and stayed up late after working all night to make all of the traveling possible, my mom who spent so much time planning my trips, setting up appearances, believed in me and pushed me to always do my best, my big brother Shaydin for being the best pageant brother ever and sticking by my side the whole way, my little brother Kaydonni for being my biggest fan and all of the hugs and kisses, my big sister Shannya for always believing I could, by big big brother Daylin and new sister Kelsey for cheering me on from afar and always having my back, I say a big giant, "THANK YOU" for loving me as I am and making this journey possible.

For all the future contestants, please remember there is only ONE crown and win or not, it doesn't make you who you are. Be who you are and love yourself no matter what the outcome on finale day. Good luck, have fun, and make lots of memories and friends.

Its goodbye for now but remember, "Do your best and the rest will follow."

One year ago, my dream of becoming a princess came through. I knew my life wouldn’t be the same anymore from that day onwards.
NAM shaped me into my best self. I got involved in making a difference in the world; there is no greater feeling than that.
During my past year I was privileged enough to serve in a lot of areas such as giving love and care to the elderly at a local nursing home, stop hunger by collecting food under the Island Harvest organization, building homes for heroes, collecting clothes for Tuesday’s children and raised money to support children with autism.
To my upcoming princesses I can assure you that as you start your pageant you will realize that you are capable of much more than you ever thought. Be ready to welcome a desire within you to make success a reality in all areas of your life.

I can’t believe my time as the 2017-2018 National American Miss Michigan Teen is coming to an end. This year has been nothing short of perfect. I have grown so much as a person and I can truly say this year has been the best one yet. I’m so lucky to have been a part of such an amazing organization that empowers young girls and teaches them amazing life skills. Thanks to the public speaking skills I have learned from National American Miss, I feel more than ready to begin my education in the fall at Central Michigan University as I study broadcasting. Throughout this year I have loved volunteering and making a difference in my community. I have met so many awesome kids at my favorite place to volunteer, the Detroit Children’s Center. Going down there and making crafts with the kids was always so much fun. It really showed me the need of those kids, and I will be continuing to volunteer there. I have made such good memories this past year and have made so many new friends. Although it is bittersweet to crown my successor, I am so excited for her and know that she will enjoy her year just as much as I did. National American Miss has given me opportunities that I never could’ve imagined having. This organization will always have a very special place in my heart since it has shaped me so much in the last year. I am so grateful.

Being a State Cover Girl has been an amazing experience. I have been honored to be a part of the NAM family this year. It has been one of the best experiences of my life and I will remember it forever.
This year I ran a book drive and collected over 2000 books for Reach out and Read, I participated with a number of my NAM sisters in a photo shoot in Atlantic City, School supply giveaway, a sponsored walk for Leukemia, Memorial Day parade and Shop Sell Strut, a fashion show to raise money for Children with autism. I have worked with the local animal shelter volunteering and fostering dogs and kittens.
I had the privilege to attend Nationals where I competed and picked up my National Cover Model title. Meeting so many Sister queens from across the country and competing with the best was a learning and growing experience and I made friends for a lifetime.
My favorite part of this year has been getting to know my NAMily and my fellow sister queens.

I wish you all the best of luck this year. Remember, You are all beautiful. Stay Confident and keep on Smiling.

Life long friends, confidence and a desire to help others is what I have gained at National American Miss. I have met amazing friends now family from all over the states.

My reign as the 2017 New York Pre Teen Cover Girl began at the State pageant last summer, and continued to Nationals where I was crowned 2017-2018 Pre Teen National Cover Miss. This year has been so much fun.  From celebrating my birthday with my Namily at Bryant park ice skating, dancing at the silent disco, and dinner at Stardust Diner. To volunteering with my sisters at the Ronald McDonald house,Run for the Wild and Champs for Autism. Also showing support to my fellow sash sisters at shop sell strut. NAM has taught me to give back. By combining two of my favorite things raising money for Autism and modeling for the Champs for Autism fashion show. Also I raised money for endangered animals at the Bronx Zoo Run for the Wild.

First of all I want to thank God and my family. Mom you are always there for me even when I'm being difficult. Grandma and Titi for making sure my hair and outfits are on point. My brother Devon and cousin Brandon for being my escorts even though you preferred to be in the hotel room playing video games.  To Dawn Lee thanks for putting up with all the emails my mom sent you and helping us each step of the way. Lakiesha thanks for always making sure everything ran smoothly and making sure we looked great on stage. Mr. and Mrs. Mayes thanks for this amazing pageant and I'm proud to be part of this Namily. A year ago I accomplished the title of National American Miss Oregon Jr.Teen! I was so excited that I was chosen to represent my beautiful state. Leading up to the state competition I worked so hard to prepare for the pageant. Long nights with my dad, hours practicing my introduction, and countless times practicing interview in the car. All of this hard work paid off in the end.

National American Miss has impacted my life in such a positive way. I started doing pageants when I was twelve and I started with NAM. I would have never thought that the shy twelve year old I was would turn into an empowering sixteen year old that I am today! Being a representative for National American Miss has taught me how to be an extraordinary woman in my community and how to represent myself. I feel if it wasn’t for NAM I would not be the girl I am today.

This year has been an absolute blast! I kicked off my year with my five beautiful sister queens and having appearances with them. We helped out at the Cascade Aids Project events, Ronald McDonald House, and participated in parades and photo shoots. I have created a special bond with my sisters and I am so blessed I was paired with them. The icing on the cake to my year was getting first runner up at the national competition. I know I made Oregon so proud!

National American Miss will always be my home, this organization has made me the wonderful girl I am and has changed so many young girls lives all over the country. I am truly thankful.

I know if it wasn’t for my amazing support system and family I couldn’t of accomplished my goals. I am thankful for all of them!

Signing off, I am your 2017 Miss Oregon Jr.Teen Shayla Montgomery!

Seven years ago I stepped onto the National American Miss stage. I had a beautiful ball gown and simply could not wait to wear it. However, I was a shy girl, a bit terrified to speak my introduction. There was no chance that I would enter the spokesmodel, actress, or a number of other optionals that required public speaking. My takeaways though were new friends, a fun weekend, and the words of the emcee who told us to always pursue our dreams, try new things, and be fearless. She encouraged us all to come back again. I did.
Each year I prepared a little better, practiced a little more, and tried something new. Each year I improved my scores, earned trophies, plaques, and recognition, and always, always, made new friends and had a great weekend. I became more confident, comfortable with public speaking, and every year earned a trophy for trying multiple new optionals.
Last summer I was crowned National American Miss New Jersey. Years of hopes and dreams had come to fruition and I was so very excited and honored to begin my year. As I stood on stage with a crown on my head and roses in my arms little did I know that this was going to be one for the books.
Appearances, modeling, service, and more started within days of crowning. I met my sister queens and we had a wonderful time getting to know each other on the beach in Atlantic City during a photoshoot. Over the next few months we met up at events, supported each other in person, and via social media, and planned for Nationals. We also supported those affected by the awful hurricanes last season with collections and donations of school supplies.
I was also fortunate to be in a virtual group with the Miss contestants across the U.S., and by the time we met in Anaheim, many were like friends I had known forever. Nationals was everything I had heard about, and so much more. Themed rehearsals were so much fun. Going to Disneyland, Hollywood, and the Thanksgiving banquet, however, are memories that will last forever.
But the journey did not end at Nationals. For me the work with my Foundation was gearing up. What an honor to have so many sister queens attend a casting and ultimately strut the runway in support of children on the autism spectrum at Shop. Sell. Strut! ™
This past year, I have run, walked, skated, danced, and strutted in support of others. I’ve used the respect of the National American Miss name and my title to show kindness and compassion to as many people as I could. I wish the same for each and every girl stepping on the NAM stage for the first time or as repeat contestants.  Remember the words of NAM “Unleash Your Potential!” Best of luck to all of the contestants competing this weekend, and in all of your future service activities and adventures.
With love and support,

Dear State Finalists,

Congratulations to all of you for making it to the state finals! At your pageant weekend, you are going to make lots of new friends, gain more self-confidence, and have tons of fun!

Throughout my year of reign, I had so many amazing opportunities to volunteer! I celebrated with cancer patients as they finished their last round of chemo, I served meals at the Ronald McDonald house, and I even boxed food for 20,000 people! I made new friendships that will last a lifetime and I became an inspiration to young girls my age, going around my community spreading words of kindness and self-love. The best part about being a State Title holder is that you make lifelong memories that will be cherished forever. I can't believe that my year has come to an end, and it feels like I was just crowned yesterday.

I want to thank all of the NAM staff For making the state and national pageant so much fun, but most importantly inspiring girls like me to never stop chasing your dreams. I would also like to thank all of my friends and family for riding along with me on my journey this past year! It has truly been an adventure.  And lastly, to my successor, cherish every moment,  because it flies by quicker than you know it!

For the last time I am your 2017-2018 Miss Central Florida Preteen,

Jazmyne Pledger.
